PHNOM PENH: U.S. President Donald J. Trump has formally invited Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, to join a new international initiative aimed at promoting lasting peace in the Middle East and addressing global conflicts.
In a letter dated Jan. 16, 2026, but shard to the public this evening, President Trump extended the invitation to Prime Minister Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet to participate in what he described as a historic effort to consolidate peace, particularly in the Middle East.
The U.S. President recalled that on Sept. 29, 2025, he announced the Comprehensive Plan to End the Gaza Conflict, a 20-point roadmap that he said was quickly embraced by world leaders, including heads of state from the Arab world, Israel, and Europe. He also noted that on Nov. 17, 2025, the United Nations Security Council overwhelmingly adopted Resolution 2803, welcoming and endorsing the plan.
According to the letter, the next phase of the initiative involves the establishment of “The Board of Peace,” a new international organisation and transitional governing administration designed to implement the Comprehensive Plan and build lasting peace.
President Trump, who would serve as Chairman of the Board, formally invited Cambodia to join the initiative as a Founding Member State and to become a party to the Charter of The Board of Peace. He said participating countries would share responsibility for promoting long-term peace, security, and prosperity.
The letter stated that each member state may designate an authorised representative to attend and participate in meetings of the Board. The Comprehensive Plan and the Charter of The Board of Peace were enclosed with the invitation and are open for signature and ratification.
President Trump expressed his expectation of working closely with Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet and Cambodia in the pursuit of lasting world peace, prosperity, and global stability.
