The Minister offers 5 tips for developing the coastal area

PHNOM PENH: Deputy Prime Minister Chea Sophara, Minister of Land Management, Urban Planning, and Construction, and Chairman of Cambodia’s National Committee for Coastal Management and Development, issued five recommendations for coastal management and development in order to attract national and international tourists.

The National Committee for Coastal Management and Development of Cambodia will hold a dissemination workshop on legal standards for coastal management and development on May 30, 2022 at Kep Provincial Hall, with participation from Dr. Thong Khon, Minister of Tourism and Permanent Vice President of the National Committee for Coastal Management and Development of Cambodia.

Deputy Prime Minister Chea Sophara recommended the target work to ensure the sustainable management, development, and conservation of Cambodia’s coastal areas and the administrative environment of Preah Sihanouk, Kampot, Kep, and Koh Kong provinces in order to attract national and international tourists. The 5 points are as follows:

First, through land use planning and detailed urban planning, protect and maintain beaches and coastal forage lands; and develop public roads and green networks along the coast to create a harmonious public space and attract tourists to the coastal areas.

Second, through the use of detailed plans and urban planning to manage conservation, sustainable development, and harmony, they protect and maintain estuaries, rivers, canals, and waterways connected to the sea, which are public property of the state.

Third, ensure the management, protection, and protection of salt fields, which are cultural, historical, and historical resources of Cambodia, through land development management in accordance with the current urbanization and land use regulations.

Fourth, through the development of management and monitoring measures, protect and preserve the mountains, forests, and natural landscapes of the coastal areas, which are historical, natural, and environmental heritage, in order to support the development of sustainable and harmonious ecotourism in Cambodia’s coastal areas as well as consistent conservation.

Fifth, with a clear control plan, improve the management, development, and conservation of islands and archipelagos by ensuring high-quality natural resources, landscapes, and biodiversity on and around the islands.
