PHNOM PENH: The groundbreaking ceremony for National Road No. 7 was presided over by Samdech Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of Cambodia, and H.E. Wang Vinthean, Chinese Ambassador to Cambodia, on January 9, 2023.
The road section from Cheung Prey district town to Kampong Cham provincial town is expected to cost more than $117 million, thanks to a concessional loan from the Chinese government and contributions from the Royal Government of Cambodia.
The project will build a 9-centimeter asphalt concrete (AC) road from the Skun roundabout in Cheung Prey district to the roundabout at the base of the Kizuna Bridge in Kampong Cham, covering a total length of more than 45 kilometers.
The width of the road will be increased from two to four lanes, with each lane measuring 3.75 meters long and the traffic median measuring 1.5 meters.
This section of National Road No. 7 was reconstructed in 1999 as an asphalt concrete (AC) road with widths of 7 and 9 meters. This section of road, along with the Cambodia-Japan Friendship Bridge (Kizuna Bridge), was built with assistance from the Japanese government.
The project will be in charged by China Bridge and Road Corporation (CRBC) and technically supervised by Guangzhou Wanan Technical Consulting. It will take 40 months to complete with a worth of $117 million. This is a concessional loan from the Chinese government, with assistance from the Royal Government of Cambodia
