PHNOM PENH: The Minister of Public Works and Transport confirmed that the third ring road, which will cost more than $267million reached nearly 80% completion.
“The construction of the 3rd ring road has reached 77%, including the bridge over the Bassac River and the National Road 2 section, and 88% on the National Road 22 section,” said Senior Minister Sun Chanthol, Minister of Public Works and Transport.
The ring road begins at kilometer 14 + 105 in Chompou Voan, Sangkat Choam Chao 3, Khan Por Sen Chey connects to Tumnup Kob Srov Road, National Road No. 5, Victory Bridge, Victory Blvd., and National Road No. 6.
The project will create a new enormous and modern ring road to serve the transportation sector between Phnom Penh, connecting to National Roads Nos. 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, and 21 by crossing the Bassac River and Anlong Chen Island and ending at National Road No. 1 at km 24 + 84 in Sdao Kanleang village, Dei Edth commune, Kien Svay district, Kandal province.
Significantly, the road connects the new container terminal in Kien Svay district of the Phnom Penh Autonomous Port, the ASEAN Highway and main corridor, the Central Corridor, the Southern Economic Corridor, and the Greater Mekong Subregion.
Shanghai Construction Group Co., Ltd. began work on the third ring road project on January 14, 2019. Guangzhou Wanan Construction Supervision Co., Ltd is in charge of overseeing this $ 267.67 million project, which includes US $ 5.38 million in concessional financing from the Government of the People’s Republic of China and a contribution from the Royal Government of Cambodia for demining and UXO clearance.
