PHNOM PENH: The US$1.5 billion Techo International Airport (TIA), Cambodia’s newest international gateway, has officially commenced operations this morning, Sept. 9, 2025.
The inaugural flight was the national flag carrier, Air Cambodia (K6 611), which landed as scheduled, followed by Singapore Airlines (SQ 155). The welcome ceremony was presided over by H.E. Dr. Mao Havannall, Minister in Charge of the Secretariat of Civil Aviation, and H.E. Huot Hak, Minister of Tourism.

As of midnight on Sept. 8, 2025, Phnom Penh International Airport has ceased all operations, with all flights now transferred to the new facility. The final airline to depart from Phnom Penh International Airport was Korean Air.
TIA, which is the largest airport in Cambodia, is designed as a large-scale 4F international airport capable of accommodating long-haul flights from across the globe, including large aircraft like the Airbus A380-800 and Boeing 747-800. The new airport is located on more than 2,600 hectares of land, approximately 20 kilometers from Phnom Penh.

The official inauguration of the airport is set for Oct. 20, 2025, with Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, presiding over the event.
The airport is expected to significantly boost Cambodia’s aviation and tourism sectors, along with passenger and cargo transport, trade, and economic growth in the surrounding region.
