PHNOM PENH: The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has revised its growth forecast for Cambodia from 6.1 to 4.9 percent for 2025 and from 6.2 to 5.0 percent for 2026, reflecting economic challenges related to geopolitical tensions with Thailand and uncertainty surrounding the United States (U.S.) export market.

According to an ADB’s press release on Sept. 30, solid growth is expected through 2026, driven by continued strength in the industrial sector and steady inflows of foreign direct investment.

“The economy has shown resilience in the first half of 2025,” said ADB Country Director for Cambodia Ms. Jyotsana Varma. “Lower-than-expected food price increases and declining fuel costs helped ease inflation, while industrial activity remained robust. Looking ahead, there is scope for continued recovery in the construction and tourism sectors, alongside steady growth in agriculture, which together point to a more balanced and sustainable expansion.”

According to ADB’s flagship economic report, Asian Development Outlook (ADO) September 2025, year-on-year inflation declined sharply from 6.0 percent in January to 1.6 percent in June. Inflation is expected to average around 2.0 percent in 2025 and 2026.

Industry continues to be the main growth engine. Garment exports surged 22.2 percent year-on-year in the first half of 2025, partly due to U.S. buyers stocking up in anticipation of higher tariffs on Cambodian imports.

Despite cautious sentiment among importers stemming from trade policy uncertainty, the garment and non-garment manufacturing sectors are expected to remain strong, supported by a relatively favourable 19 percent U.S. tariff rate.

Growth in the services sector is projected to moderate to 2.8 percent in 2025 and 2.6 percent in 2026.

Tourism showed continued recovery in the first half of 2025 with increased arrivals from the People’s Republic of China. However, ongoing border tensions with Thailand are expected to dampen tourism and weigh on broader service activities in the second half of the year and beyond.

The agriculture sector is forecast to expand by 1.1 percent in 2025 and 2026, supported by sustained export demand and the anticipated return of agricultural labourers from Thailand in the latter half of the year. Agricultural exports rose by 14.1 percent year-on-year in the first half of 2025, driven by robust shipments of cashew nuts and milled rice, which helped offset declines in cassava and rubber exports.

ADB is a leading multilateral development bank supporting inclusive, resilient, and sustainable growth across Asia and the Pacific.

Working with its members and partners to solve complex challenges together, ADB harnesses innovative financial tools and strategic partnerships to transform lives, build quality infrastructure, and safeguard our planet. Founded in 1966, ADB is owned by 69 members—50 from the region.

The post ADB Forecasts Cambodia’s Economic Growth at 4.9 Percent This Year first appeared on Estatedia | Economy & Real Estate Media in Cambodia.

PHNOM PENH: Over the past few decades, Cambodia has experienced transformative growth, moving from a country known for its rich cultural heritage to an emerging economic hub in Southeast Asia. As Cambodia modernizes, many are beginning to wonder: Could Cambodia be the next Singapore?

To answer this, let’s explore the key areas where Cambodia is showing rapid progress and development that hint at a similar path Singapore took.

1. Economic Growth and Development

According to the world bank, Cambodia’s economic landscape has undergone significant transformation over the past two decades. Between 1995 and 2019, the country achieved an average annual GDP growth rate of 7.6%, positioning it among the fastest-growing economies globally. This economic progress has been sustained by strategic investments in sectors such as real estate, tourism, manufacturing, and the growing digital economy.

Foreign direct investment (FDI) has been pivotal, with China as a primary contributor, investing significantly in infrastructure projects, real estate developments, and manufacturing since 2005. As of 2022, Cambodia’s FDI inflows were approximately $3.58 billion, a testament to the country’s growing appeal as an investment destination (Statista, 2022). Other countries, such as South Korea and Japan, have also made substantial contributions, particularly in real estate, agriculture, and finance. This flow of FDI has created job opportunities, expanded Cambodia’s middle class, and fueled demand for urban infrastructure in rapidly developing cities like Phnom Penh and Sihanoukville.

Additionally, Cambodia’s strategic location in Southeast Asia provides easy access to major sea lanes which provides easy access to essential trading routes, enhancing its appeal as a regional hub. In a way similar to Singapore, Cambodia is leveraging its geographical location to attract foreign investments and foster economic integration within ASEAN.

2. Real Estate Boom and Urbanization

Cambodia’s real estate sector is experiencing a period of rapid growth, particularly in its capital, Phnom Penh. High-rise buildings, luxury condominiums, and mixed-use developments are transforming the city’s skyline, indicating a thriving demand for both residential and commercial properties. Districts such as Toul Tum Poung and Boeung Keng Kang (BKK1) have emerged as vibrant hubs for new projects, drawing both local and international investors who recognize Phnom Penh’s potential as a rising urban center (CBRE Cambodia, 2023).

This growth is further supported by major infrastructure projects aimed at enhancing connectivity and accessibility. Notable developments include new road networks, the construction of the Techo Takhmao International Airport, and extensive expressway systems. The Techo Takhmao International Airport, scheduled to open in phases beginning next year, is expected to initially accommodate 13 million passengers, with a projected expansion to 50 million by 2050 (The Sun, 2024).

At the center of this real estate expansion is Realestate.com.kh, Cambodia’s leading online real estate platform. By providing a trusted, accessible marketplace, Realestate.com.kh connects developers, agents, and buyers, facilitating property transactions on a national scale. As the exclusive marketing partner for many major projects, Realestate.com.kh is instrumental in driving awareness and building demand for new developments across Cambodia. This role not only aids in promoting high-quality projects but also strengthens investor confidence by ensuring a streamlined and transparent buying process.

Realestate.com.kh’s Connect Center has also been a game-changer, creating a space where agents and developers receive support, professional training, and access to the best tools for reaching potential buyers. This initiative is enhancing service standards across the industry, helping Cambodia’s real estate sector grow more connected, professional, and investor-friendly.

For buyers and investors, this real estate boom represents a promising opportunity. As property values in Phnom Penh continue to appreciate, developments are emerging that combine luxury living with affordability, attracting both high-end investors and young professionals. New projects are being introduced with attractive starting prices, making the dream of urban living more accessible. From affordable condos to upscale residences, the real estate market in Cambodia is evolving to cater to a diverse range of buyers, much like the early years of Singapore’s property development boom.

With these factors in play, Cambodia’s real estate market is poised for sustained growth. Investors looking for high returns are increasingly drawn to the country’s affordable property prices, strategic location, and rapidly expanding urban infrastructure. Realestate.com.kh’s expertise and influence in the market will likely continue to drive this sector forward, solidifying Cambodia’s place as a future economic and urban powerhouse in Southeast Asia.

3. Tourism and Cultural Appeal

Tourism remains a significant driver of Cambodia’s economy. In 2023, Cambodia welcomed approximately 5.43 million international tourists, marking a notable increase of 139.5% from the previous year’s 2.27 million arrivals, highlighting the resilience and importance of the sector (Tourism Cambodia, 2023). While the iconic Angkor Wat continues to attract global attention, Cambodia is diversifying its tourism portfolio with new developments in eco-tourism resorts, cultural heritage sites, and luxury hospitality projects. For instance, eco-tourism initiatives saw a 250% increase in visitors, with 341,621 domestic and foreign tourists recorded in the first four months of 2022 compared to the same period in 2021 (B Consulting Cambodia, 2022).

Singapore’s success as a tourism destination was also built on a mix of cultural heritage, innovative attractions, and exceptional hospitality. Cambodia is following suit, broadening its tourism appeal and creating sustainable tourism experiences that highlight its cultural and natural assets.

4. Emphasis on Digital Transformation

The digital economy is a priority for Cambodia’s government as it works toward a more connected future. Initiatives to promote digital literacy, expand internet access, and encourage technology startups are gaining momentum. Programs like the Cambodia Digital Economy and Society Policy Framework 2021–2035 set ambitious targets for digital transformation, aiming to make Cambodia a leader in Southeast Asia’s digital landscape.

Singapore’s own transformation into a digital economy powerhouse was driven by government support for technology adoption, education, and infrastructure. Cambodia’s current path mirrors this with a focus on digital skills development, e-commerce growth, and tech innovation.

5. Special Economic Zones (SEZs) and Free Trade

Cambodia has established several SEZs, which offer tax incentives and infrastructure support to attract foreign companies. These zones are part of Cambodia’s strategy to create a competitive manufacturing base, particularly in garment manufacturing, electronics, and automotive parts. With the signing of free trade agreements with China and South Korea, Cambodia is positioning itself as a gateway for goods and services into ASEAN markets.

Singapore’s economic success was largely based on its ability to leverage trade agreements and offer business-friendly environments for foreign companies. Cambodia is pursuing a similar strategy, striving to create a more open and efficient economy that attracts global investment.

6. Commitment to Education and Skill Development

Singapore’s rise was fueled by investments in education and a focus on skills development. Cambodia is beginning to make strides in this area as well. The government, with the support of international partners, is investing in education reforms aimed at improving literacy, digital skills, and vocational training. New universities and technical institutes are emerging to meet the needs of a growing workforce that is increasingly connected and tech-savvy.

While Cambodia’s education system still faces challenges, these efforts show a commitment to building a skilled workforce. As more young Cambodians enter the job market with relevant skills, the country’s economy will benefit from a talent pool that supports its growing industries.

7. Future Outlook

In the years ahead, Cambodia has the potential to emerge as a competitive player in Southeast Asia’s economy. With the right mix of government policies, foreign investments, and local initiatives, Cambodia could indeed chart a path similar to Singapore’s. By embracing modernization while preserving its unique culture, Cambodia has the opportunity to create its own success story and become a dynamic, prosperous nation.

Conclusion: Cambodia’s Journey Toward a Bright Future

While Cambodia may not yet be “the new Singapore,” its transformation is certainly capturing the world’s attention. With robust economic growth, a thriving real estate market, digital transformation, and a commitment to sustainable development, Cambodia is well on its way to becoming an influential player in the region. The next decade will be crucial, as Cambodia continues to build on its strengths and address its challenges.

As investors, citizens, and stakeholders, supporting Cambodia’s vision for the future is essential. Through strategic planning, innovation, and international partnerships, Cambodia can build a future that rivals the success of its Southeast Asian neighbors, including Singapore.

The post Emerging Giant: How Cambodia is Following in Singapore’s Footsteps first appeared on Estatedia | Economy & Real Estate Media in Cambodia.

PHNOM PENH: More than 3.74 million international visitors were registered in Cambodia in the first seven months of this year, up 23.2 percent compared to the same period of 2023, a Ministry of Tourism’s report showed on Thursday.

Thailand topped the list of foreign arrivals to Cambodia during the said period with 1,147,534 visitors, the source added, stressing that Vietnam, China, Lao PDR, the U.S., the Republic of Korea, Indonesia, France, the United Kingdom, and Japan were among the top ten market arrivals in the January-July 2024 period.

Some 1.34 million foreign visitors, or about 36 percent of the total foreign arrivals, arrived in Cambodia by air, a year-on-year increase of 26.4 percent, and the rest via land border gates and waterways, up 21.5 percent, the report continued.

Phnom Penh capital was the most attractive tourism destination for foreign tourists, followed by Siem Reap cultural province and the coastal zone, it underlined.

At the same time, the ministry reported that the number of Cambodia’s outbound tourists rose by 5.9 percent to 1,069,078.

Mr. Thim Sereyvuth, Acting Director of the Siem Reap Provincial Department of Tourism told AKP on Aug. 23 that Siem Reap province is keen to see more tourists as their visits will contribute to the country’s economic growth and local development.

Tourism is one of the four pillars supporting Cambodia’s economy, in addition to garment, footwear, and travel goods exports; agriculture; and the construction and real estate sectors.

Last year, the Kingdom received some 5.45 million foreign visitors, earning a gross revenue of US$3.08 billion.

PHNOM PENH: Preah Sihanouk Province is poised to become a major economic powerhouse, according to the Preah Sihanouk Multi-Purpose Special Economic Zone Master Plan (MPSEZ). The plan outlines and explain a vision for Preah Sihanouk as an International Gateway, a National Development Pole, and an ASEAN Metropolis.

STRENGHT: Strategic Location, Established Infrastructure

MPSEZ said, the Cambodian government has prioritized Preah Sihanouk’s development due to its strategic location. The province boasts Cambodia’s prime trading hub with unparalleled seaport and airport access, making it an ideal location for international trade. Additionally, Preah Sihanouk benefits from established Special Economic Zones and strong infrastructure, ensuring smooth operations for businesses.

OPPORTUNITIES: Investment Opportunities Abound

Preah Sihanouk offers a plethora of opportunities for investors. The emergence of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) creates new trading dynamics, allowing businesses to optimize their industrial and supply chains.

According to the MPSEZ’s written on the official page, robust macroeconomic conditions pave the way for exploring new industrial opportunities, while exciting new government policies offer additional advantages. Cambodia’s thriving digital economy presents groundbreaking opportunities for forward-thinking businesses seeking a foothold in Asia’s digital future.

PAS: A Model of Success

The success of Sihanoukville Autonomous Port (PAS), Cambodia’s key international port, exemplifies the region’s potential. PAS recently reported a 24.4% revenue increase in the first four months of 2024 compared to 2023, highlighting the economic momentum of Preah Sihanouk.

Government Support for Real Estate Recovery

Recognizing a recent slowdown in real estate investment, the Cambodian government has taken proactive steps. In April 2024, a working group led by Dr. Hean Sahip, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Economy and Finance, approved six new investment projects in Sihanoukville.

These projects, encompassing diverse sectors like housing developments and hotels, represent a combined US$73 million investment and are expected to kickstart economic activity. This government support signals a commitment to revitalizing the real estate sector and strengthening Preah Sihanouk’s economic future.

Government Commitment to Development

The Cambodian government is actively shaping Preah Sihanouk’s future. A recent meeting led by Deputy Prime Minister Dr. Aun Pornmoniroth focused on finalizing the draft report for the “Master Plan to Develop Preah Sihanouk Province into a Model Multi-Purpose Special Economic Zone” and the accompanying “Action Plan Report.” This commitment to comprehensive development ensures a bright future for the region.

Invest in Preah Sihanouk and unlock your business potential in Cambodia’s thriving economic hub!

The post MPSEZ’s vision on Sihanoukville: An International Gateway, A National Development Pole, An ASEAN Metropolis first appeared on Estatedia | Economy & Real Estate Media in Cambodia.

The program has already approved special benefits for 63 projects. This latest package focuses on 22 new projects valued at over $2 billion USD, revitalizing Sihanoukville’s investment scene.

Led by HE Dr. Hean Sahip, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Economy and Finance at a recent meeting of the Investment Promotion Working Group streamlined approvals and offered investor support, with representatives from Environment, Health, and Real Estate ministries ensuring a smooth process.

Sihanoukville’s fresh Special Incentive Package, unlocking a staggering $2 billion investment across 22 projects, targets both reviving stalled construction and fostering new growth with projects tackling stalled construction, entirely new ventures across diverse sectors like car tire production and hotels, and expansion for existing businesses.

Open to all nationalities, these mixed-use projects welcome investment ranging from $100,000 to $500 million USD, catering to small, medium, and large enterprises. The program offers incentives for four project categories: rebooting stalled construction, launching new ventures operational in 2024, expanding existing businesses, and supporting current projects.

Benefits to all nationalities, including individuals, legal entities, and businesses of all sizes (micro, small, medium, and large) at no cost.

The working group expressed appreciation for the cooperation of relevant ministries and institutions. They actively encourage domestic and foreign investors to take advantage of this new incentive package by contacting the Sihanoukville investment promotion team.

PHNOM PENH: Cambodia’s construction industry is experiencing mixed signals, according to a recent World Bank report. While there’s a positive trend with a significant increase in imports of essential building materials, real estate development remains sluggish.

The report offers encouraging news after a period of decline. There’s been a substantial jump in imports of construction equipment (19.9%), steel (33.5%), and cement (15.0%) in the first quarter of 2024 compared to the same period last year. This growth is further bolstered by a rise in import volumes, particularly for steel (35.9%) and cement (24.1%).

The report also highlights a shift in investment focus within the construction sector. Private financing for real estate development remains subdued, but there’s a growing emphasis on non-residential projects.

This includes public and private investments in infrastructure projects like roads, bridges, logistics, and port facilities. This trend aligns with the rise in industrial building permits and approvals for Foreign Direct Investment (FDI)-funded non-garment infrastructure projects.

Despite the positive developments in infrastructure, the report acknowledges an ongoing decline in real estate development activity. This is reflected in the downward trend of approved permit values for such projects.

The total approved value of property development projects in the first quarter of 2024 reached US$786 million, a significant 38.8% decrease year-on-year. Sihanoukville province, which experienced a pre-pandemic construction boom, saw a particularly sharp decline (54.7%) in approved permit values.

The World Bank report suggests a potential revitalization of the construction sector, driven by increasing imports of building materials and a shift in investment focus towards infrastructure projects.

However, the report also acknowledges the ongoing slowdown in real estate development. Whether the infrastructure push can fully offset the decline in real estate and how this will impact the overall health of Cambodia’s construction industry remains to be seen.

The post Material Boost Lifts Cambodia’s Construction Industry Despite Property Slump first appeared on Estatedia | Economy & Real Estate Media in Cambodia.

PHNOM PENH: Cambodia’s Ministry of Land Management, Urban Planning and Construction (MLMUPC) recently met with the Cambodian Microfinance Association (CMA) to discuss collaboration in the real estate sector.

According to the CMA, the meeting focused on a comprehensive discussion of the real estate sector in Cambodia. This included examining both the current challenges and potential opportunities within the market.

A key aspect of the discussions, as highlighted by Deputy Prime Minister Say Samal, centered on the role of financial institutions. DPM stated, “All microfinance banks and financial agencies are important strategic partners in supporting the financial industry and non-banking revenue and fiscal revenue, the real estate and construction industry, as well as the establishment of a culture of mortgage lending that has made a significant contribution to building and sustaining the Cambodian economy.”

H.E. Dith Nita, Chairwoman of the CMA, expressed her full support for the Ministry’s initiatives and a strong commitment to aiding the government in resolving challenges within the real estate sector.

However, she identified specific challenges faced by banks and financial institutions, requesting the Royal Government of Cambodia’s support through measures such as tax breaks, lower interest rates, and credit guarantees for potential loan defaults.

The participation of representatives from over 120 banking and financial institutions further underscores the industry’s commitment to working with the government on real estate development.

A new report by the World Bank this month confirmed the sluggish Cambodian property development sector in the first quarter of 2024. The value of approved real estate development projects continued to decline, dropping 38.8% year-on-year to US$786 million.

This decline follows a short-lived revival in 2023, where investor appetite for real estate, particularly housing, had shown signs of recovery after the pandemic’s heavy impact during 2020-2022.

However, the World Bank report highlights that ongoing housing price corrections, despite a limited supply of affordable housing, continue to dampen construction activity.

This meeting signifies a collaborative approach between the Cambodian government and financial institutions in fostering a healthy real estate sector. By focusing on challenges and opportunities, particularly in facilitating loan access, this dialogue suggests a proactive approach to supporting the industry’s continued development.

The post DPM Say Samal Underscores CMA’s Importance in Addressing Sluggish Real Estate Sector first appeared on Estatedia | Economy & Real Estate Media in Cambodia.

PHNOM PENH: A new report by the World Bank this month paints a picture of a sluggish Cambodian property development sector in the first quarter of 2024.

The slowdown is particularly evident in Sihanoukville province, which experienced a rapid construction boom before the pandemic. Approved property development permits in the province fell by a staggering 54.7% year-on-year to US$77.3 million during the first quarter of 2024.

The report also reveals a shift in investor focus. While the total approved development area declined by 34.8% year-on-year, the approved industrial building area bucked the trend, rising 33.6% to 0.67 million square meters.

This significant increase, representing 33.6% of the total approved area, suggests a potential shift in investor appetite towards production and manufacturing activities. Conversely, approved areas for residential and commercial properties declined sharply, with residential dropping to 0.77 million square meters (39.1% of total) and commercial down to 0.13 million square meters (6.4% of total).

This trend suggests a recalibration within the Cambodian property market, with investors potentially seeking opportunities in industrial development as residential and commercial sectors face ongoing challenges.

However, World Bank forecasts Cambodia’s economic growth to reach 5.8% in 2024, driven by a surge in exports and a rebound in service industries. Their recent Economic Update highlights a pick-up in economic activity during the first quarter, despite lower domestic demand.

The report credits rising foreign investment in manufacturing and agriculture for contributing to the recovery. Additionally, inflation fell to zero in March due to lower food prices, and the current account achieved a surplus in 2023 thanks to a narrowing trade deficit and increased tourism revenue.

PHNOM PENH: It is fair to say that the Cambodian property market continues to see a correction in mid-2024 and that the buyer profiles for condos and other properties on the market have changed over recent years.

There is still a healthy interest from overseas but regionally there are deals to be had and buyers and investors are paying close attention to geo-political tensions, interest rate cuts, and in the most election-saturated year in the record books, any potential shifts in markets.

Condos do remain of course the most popular property asset for international buyers in Cambodia due to the supply and legality for foreign owners, but the legal Trusts and commercial property opportunities have raised interest too.

So what are some of the key things to consider before putting physical or digital pen to paper for buying such a property in the Kingdom?

Are The Cambodia Property Buyer Profiles Changing?
With the context that there are more Cambodian buyers in the market for a variety of reasons, including better-targeted marketing and builds catering to local tastes, it goes without saying that Cambodians have the right to buy any property in the Kingdom if they have the finances.

In 2022, foreign condo property sales accounted for 65% of all condo sales according to realestate.com.kh – and one & two-bedroom condos were most in demand.

There are also more loan and property mortgage options available to Cambodian passport holders but this will more than likely require collateral such as land. The options for non-Cambodians are far more limited, if available at all.

There are still many desirable condos being developed, in Phnom Penh in particular, and the condo supply is expected to increase significantly by 2025, with mid-tier developments dominating the future supply – so definitely do your research.

The condo supply was projected to reach nearly 80,000 units by 2025 in the capital. Mid-tier condo developments will dominate the supply as property developers target Cambodia’s emerging middle class as well as expatriates residing in the Kingdom and foreigners buying from abroad.

The ambitions of the government should see Cambodia graduate from the Least Developed Country (LDC) status in 2029, and according to the World Bank Country Lending Group guidelines, the lower-middle-income economies have a per capita income between $1,086 and $4,255 and the upper-middle-income economies between $4,256 and $13,205, while high-income economies have a per capita income of $13,206 or more.

Cambodian Property Titles and Ownership

The preferred property title in Cambodia is a Hard Title, which is recognised nationally and provides detailed information about the property and with condos should be a standard feature when being purchased.

There have been efforts to digitise titles and claims due to the number of disputes when it comes to land in particular.

Land and property ownership can be complex for foreign-owned businesses and foreigners in Cambodia to understand – however, foreigners can buy and own property in Cambodia and legally own condos in Cambodia.

For foreigners, as we have regularly reported, restrictions mean they cannot own land outright in Cambodia, but they can own properties such as condominiums under a Strata Title, provided at least 30% of the other properties in the building are owned by Cambodians.

A Condominium Certificate of Title (CTC) will be registered under the foreigner’s name too.

Broadening Out From Condos – Commercial Property Opportunities In Cambodia

At the JCI ASPAC Angkor 2024 panel discussion, Neak Oknha Sear Rithy, Chairman of WorldBridge Group, mentioned that in the property sector, there are major opportunities available for local and foreign investors, such as commercial property like logistics infrastructure, as well as tourism properties, agricultural properties and other infrastructure properties.

Rithy said that the price of land per sqm is as much as USD $10-12,000 in Vietnam in the CBD but it’s more likely to be USD $5,000 in Cambodia. For Industrial or commercial spaces he estimated prices to be approximately USD $100 or less while in neighbouring countries this figure will be around USD $200-300 per sqm.

For warehouses and factories in Cambodia, lease terms typically range from 5-10 years, accommodating long-term industrial activities, but shorter agreements can be arranged to meet specific requirements.

The main types of commercial real estate in Cambodia are:

Office buildings
Retail real estate
Industrial, factories and warehouses
Hotels & guesthouses/lodges
Commercial land

Cautionary Tales – Buy From Trusted Property Developers In Cambodia
The messaging for some time in terms of buying condos in the local Cambodian market, and in particular in the post-pandemic era, is to buy from trusted developers who have a proven track record of delivering quality and on time.

In 2024, several residential housing projects in Phnom Penh and Siem Reap came under scrutiny from government authorities due to potential illegitimate developments.

Buyers were warned to conduct due diligence before committing to property purchase agreements, and the Real Estate Business & Pawnshop Regulator, which operates under the Non-Bank Financial Service Authority (FSA) of the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF), issued warnings to two Phnom Penh based real estate development companies for operating without proper licenses.

If there are any doubts, buyers and investors can contact the Real Estate Business & Pawnshop Regulator to check the legality of developers and that the correct real estate development business licensing requirements have been met

The below is a guide if there are any doubts:

Choose a Trusted developer with a record of previous projects
Check the sales license
Check the construction license
It is a positive sign of the market that the regulator is enforcing compliance which it says upholds the integrity of national real estate development regulations, and protects consumers from illegitimate investments.

It is still, as in markets around the globe, the buyer’s responsibility to carry out their diligence and vigilance before investing in new property developments.

Cambodian Cities Continues To Grow

Many Cambodian-based property developers target local and foreign buyers and investors and offer some sort of rental return scheme or Guaranteed Rental Returns (GRR).

This is future rental income that is guaranteed by the developer or management company to the property purchaser for a contracted period of time after the purchase agreement is signed and the ranges can vary as can the duration (for example 2-5 years).

According to the World Bank, Cambodia’s urban population is expected to reach 44 per cent by 2030 and this is compared to 25 per cent from 2020. Urban population growth of 3.07 per cent is expected in 2024 (over 4,5 million people), with a 3.29 per cent annual growth rate for the past 10 years.

PHNOM PENH: World Lin Chamber of Commerce (WLCC) is seeking investment potential in Cambodia in a number of areas such as construction, real estate, agriculture, green energy, health and so on.

The information was shared by visiting WLCC World President Mr. Tan Sri Dato Lim Soon Peng who led a delegation to pay a courtesy call on Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, at the Peace Palace in Phnom Penh this afternoon.

Mr. Tan Sri Dato Lim Soon Peng lauded the rapid development of Cambodia, especially the country’s high economic growth, peace and political stability, which provide confidence for investors to invest in Cambodia.

The WLCC will cooperate with the Lin trade association in Cambodia to organise a conference in November this year with the participation of about 1,000 to 2,000 members of WLCC to establish connections as well as explore opportunities and potential for investment in Cambodia.

For his part, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet welcomed the investment interest of WLCC’s companies, and briefed the delegation on the laws, policies and key mechanisms to support investment in Cambodia.

The Cambodian Premier voiced his support for the initiative to hold a WLCC’s conference in Cambodia in November, encouraging the WLCC to continue cooperating with Cambodian ministries and institutions.

Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet hoped that more investors will participate in this conference to explore investment opportunities in Cambodia.

The post World Lin Chamber of Commerce Seeks Investment Potential in Cambodia first appeared on Estatedia | Economy & Real Estate Media in Cambodia.
