Samdech Techo to inauguration National Road No 21 connecting Takhmao City to the Vietnamese border

PHNOM PENH: Samdech Techo Hun Sen, Cambodia’s Prime Minister, will officially open National Road No. 21, a nearly 64-kilometer stretch of road connecting Takhmao City to the Cambodia-Thailand International Gate, tomorrow morning, March 23, 2022. The National Road 21 building project was completed in two stages. The 55-kilometer road between Takhmao roundabout and Prek Sdey commune in Koh Thom district (km 55) began construction in April 2015 and was finished in October 2017. Duration of construction: 30 months.

Phase 2: A total of 8.6 kilometers of road with a total width of 11 meters was built in two lanes from Prek Sdey commune (km 55) to Chrey Thom bridge (km 63 + 6). (1 lane) Each lane is 3.5 meters wide, and 12 new bridges totaling 396 meters in length have been constructed, including road equipment installation. The construction of this road stretch will take 16 months. The building site started in March 2018 and finished in July 2019.

National Road No. 21 was built at a cost of roughly $ 61 million by HANSHIN Engineering & Construction Co., Ltd. and inspected by DASAN Consultants Co., Ltd. To cope with the burden of demining, unexploded ordnance, and other taxes, the government of the Republic of Korea provided a concessional loan, which was matched by a contribution from the Royal Government of Cambodia.

According to Mr. Sun Chanthol, Minister of Public Works and Transport, National Corridor No. 21 is a crucial road connecting Phnom Penh with other road networks such as National Road No. 2 (at the Takhmao roundabout), the second ring road, and the third ring road, The Cambodia-Vietnam border crossing is reached by National Roads No. 21A and 21B, which travel through three districts: Takhmao, Saang, and Koh Thom (Chrey Thom-Long Binh).

These roads have aided in the facilitation of all modes of transportation, particularly goods and agricultural products for trade between Cambodia and Vietnam, as well as the promotion and transformation of border areas into growth zones. and continue to develop.
