PHNOM PENH: Founded in 2006, the Royal Group Phnom Penh Special Economic Zone (RGPPSEZ) has blossomed into a premier location for international manufacturers. Its mission: is to fuel Cambodia’s economic engine and provide high-value job opportunities for its people. Today, this vision is a thriving reality.
Nearly 18 years later, RGPPSEZ boasts an impressive roster of 86 companies from 14 nations. This diverse community employs a remarkable 43,800 Cambodians and 720 foreign experts, all contributing to the nation’s key industries.
But the true measure of success lies in exports. In just five years, the zone’s export value doubled from USD 316 million in 2016 to USD 683 million in 2021. Then, in a remarkable feat, it doubled again in a single year, reaching USD 1,346 million in 2022. Finally, 2023 saw the highest export value in RGPPSEZ’s history, clocking in at a staggering USD 1,621 million. This accomplishment translates to a proud 7% contribution to Cambodia’s total export value of USD 23,470 million (as per General Department of Customs and Excise data).
This remarkable growth story unfolded even amidst the global turmoil of COVID-19. The key ingredient? The tireless efforts of our investors, particularly those in the electrical & electronics and automobile parts sectors. Their dedication to expansion and production growth fueled impressive surges. The electrical & electronics sector saw a 71% increase in export value from USD 234 million in 2019 to USD 399 million in 2023. The automobile parts sector witnessed an even steeper climb, with a 156% leap from USD 113 million in 2019 to USD 289 million in 2023.
These stellar results fuel our commitment to providing the best possible environment for international and Cambodian investors alike. Our mission is to empower their businesses, contribute to Cambodia’s economic prosperity, and accelerate the nation’s industrialization journey. Join us as we continue to write the success story of RGPPSEZ and Cambodia’s vibrant future.
