PHNOM PENH — In a push for high-value growth, H.E. Hem Vandy, Minister of Industry, Science, Technology and Innovation (MISTI), has urged the Cambodian Industrial Economic Promotion Association (CIEA) to target high-quality Chinese investments that offer technology transfer and supply chain depth.
This directive comes ahead of the Cambodia Industrial Development Conference and Cambodia-China Industrial Expo 2026, scheduled for July 17-18 in Phnom Penh. The upcoming mid-July expo will bring together over 200 Chinese corporations, industry associations, and Cambodian enterprises to facilitate direct business matching, strategic partnerships, and cross-border industrial collaboration.

While China remains Cambodia’s top source of foreign direct investment, Minister Hem Vandy emphasized that the Kingdom’s economic strategy is pivoting toward value over volume.
“What Cambodia wants is not just numbers. We want quality investments that bring competitive advantage, technology transfer, innovation, and investment in new sectors to support economic diversification and strengthen our industrial base.” — H.E. Hem Vandy, Minister of Industry, Science, Technology & Innovation
The Minister stressed that new investments must integrate with local enterprises, linking heavy industries to domestic suppliers to boost Cambodia’s long-term manufacturing capacity.

CIEA President Li Zhan Bo affirmed that the expo will act as a practical bridge to secure these exact priorities. “Our goal is not only to bring investment capital, but also technology, human resources, and complete supply chain solutions,” Li stated, noting that the association is actively guiding high-caliber Chinese firms to establish long-term operations in Cambodia.
Established in October 2025, the CIEA continues to spearhead bilateral promotion campaigns to connect market-ready Chinese enterprises with Cambodia’s evolving industrial ecosystem.
