PHNOM PENH: China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC) is conducting a preliminary feasibility study, with plans to complete the Phnom Penh-Siem Reap section in February and the Siem Reap-Poipet section in May 2024.
This information was mentioned in the first meeting of the Inter-Ministerial Commission of the Phnom Penh-Siem Reap-Poipet Expressway Infrastructure Project held on Dec. 13 at the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC).
H.E. Sun Chanthol, Deputy Prime Minister, First Vice President of the CDC, and Chairman of the Inter-Ministerial Commission, chaired the meeting with the participation of H.E. Peng Ponea, Minister of Public Works and Transport, and members of the Inter-Ministerial Commission and many relevant officials.
The meeting was held to promote the implementation of the expressway infrastructure project connecting Phnom Penh-Siem Reap-Poipet after signing the Framework Agreement on June 7, 2023.
The Phnom Penh-Siem Reap-Poipet Expressway Infrastructure Project is the third expressway project in Cambodia after the first Phnom Penh-Sihanoukville Expressway, which was put into service more than a year ago, and the second Phnom Penh-Bavet Expressway project which started construction on June 7, 2023.
The third expressway stretches over 400 kilometers, passing through Phnom Penh, Kandal, Kampong Cham, Kampong Thom, Siem Reap, and Banteay Meanchey.
