Preah Sihanouk Province Launches New Direct Flight to Xiamen, Boosting Tourism and Investment Links with China

PHNOM PENH: Preah Sihanouk on Sunday launched a new direct flight route between the province and Xiamen City in China’s Fujian Province, a move expected to strengthen tourism, trade, and investment connectivity between Cambodia and China.

H.E. Mang Sineth, Governor of Preah Sihanouk Province, presided over the inauguration ceremony of flight ZA687 operated by SKY Angkor Airlines at Sihanouk International Airport in Ream commune, Kampong Som city.

The governor said the new route reflects Cambodia’s continued development and the growing importance of Preah Sihanouk Province as a key tourism and investment destination. He noted that expanded air connectivity is a strategic priority of the Royal Government of Cambodia to attract more visitors and investors.

With the launch of the Xiamen route, Preah Sihanouk Province now has direct flights to six destinations in China, including Shenzhen, Wuxi, Chengdu, Macau, and Kunming. The province also maintains international routes to Kuala Lumpur and Ho Chi Minh City, as well as daily domestic flights.

Governor Mang Sineth emphasised that increased flight connections demonstrate strong security and stability in Preah Sihanouk Province, which is known for its natural attractions such as islands and beaches. He reaffirmed the provincial administration’s commitment to maintaining security, environmental protection, and public hygiene to support sustainable tourism and investment.

The inaugural Preah Sihanouk-Xiamen flight carried 147 passengers.
