New $1 Billion Investment in 15.8-Hectare Sihanoukville Resort to Generate 5,000 Jobs

PHNOM PENH: The development of a significant integrated entertainment resort in Preah Sihanouk province is moving forward.

During an inspection visit to the project site on January 2nd in Techo Square, Sangkat 4 of Sihanoukville, Governor H.E. Mang Sineth emphasized the importance of sustainable practices, particularly with regard to wastewater management.

Governor Sineth advised Peninsula Bay Investment Co., Ltd., the developer, to prioritize the construction of a high-standard wastewater treatment plant to prevent environmental pollution. He stressed that this measure is crucial for the long-term viability and success of the resort.

Expressing his support for the project, Governor Sineth assured Peninsula Bay Investment of the provincial administration’s commitment to assisting the developer in overcoming any challenges that may arise during the construction phase to ensure timely and smooth progress.

According to Mr. Lai Xiao Bo, the company’s representative overseeing the development project, construction is divided into two distinct zones.

The development of Zone B, which features condominiums and commercial buildings, is expected to be completed in late 2025. The Zone A development, he added, which comprises a five-star hotel, shopping malls, and entertainment parks, will be finished by 2028.

The resort, spanning 15.8 hectares, is estimated to have a total development cost of approximately US$1 billion. Upon completion, it is anticipated to create around 5,000 jobs within the local community.

This significant investment in Sihanoukville’s tourism sector is expected to have a considerable impact on the province’s economy.
