PHNOM PENH: H.E Kouch Chamroeun, Governor of Preah Sihanouk Province, recently stated that more than 80 structures in the province have begun reconstruction following Covid-19 relief, with the remaining 200 buildings preparing to do the same.
The Governor’s statement was delivered at the Preah Sihanouk Provincial Administration’s press conference on “5 Years Success” on February 15, 2023, at the Office of the Council of Ministers.
According to the governor, Sihanoukville is a province with strong growth in high-rise buildings, with a total of 1,006 high-rise buildings so far. There were 359 suspended buildings and 89 in the process of being rebuilt after Covid-19 relief.
The Royal Government directed the Ministry of Economy and Finance to consider ways to solve the trouble of stagnant construction, and a working group has been formed to develop a policy to settle this stalemate, which is already underway.
Sihanoukville has 589 high-rise projects from 2018 to 2022, including 263 projects with 5 to 9 floors, 229 projects with 10 to 19 floors, 63 projects with 20 to 29 floors, 28 projects with 30 to 39 floors, and higher than 40 floors for 6 projects.
