PHNOM PENH: According to the Ministry of Public Works and Transport, nearly 1.5 million traffic occurred on the Phnom Penh-Sihanoukville expressway between the beginning of October 2022 and the end of January 2023 while there were reported 70 traffic incidents with no severe injuries or deaths.
According to the Ministry, this indicates the positive outcomes of the Royal Government’s efforts to reduce costs, travel time, and transport goods and effectively decline traffic accidents.
The Phnom Penh-Sihanoukville Expressway, with a total length of 187.05 kilometers and eight entrances, was officially inaugurated on November 9, 2022, under the presidency of Samdech Techo, Prime Minister of Cambodia and Prime Minister of China.
Mr. Heang Sothearyut, Director General of the General Department of Technology and Public Relations, and Mr. Kun Mo, General Director of the Phnom Penh-Sihanoukville Expressway Company, chaired a meeting to review the DIP technology mechanism’s progress on January 27, 2023. Expressway services and public awareness campaigns have been in place for four months.

PHNOM PENH: On November 9, 2022, the China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC) officially inaugurated the US$2 billion Phnom Penh-Sihanoukville Expressway.
The symbolic inauguration ceremony is presided over by Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, and visiting H.E. Li Keqiang, Premier of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China.
