PHNOM PENH: H.E. Peng Ponea, Cambodian Minister of Public Works and Transport, received H.E. Li Yang, Vice Minister of Transport of China in Luang Prabang, Laos, on Nov. 9, on the sidelines of the 29th ASEAN Transport Ministers’ Meeting and associated meetings.
Both sides discussed and exchanged views on the strengthening of bilateral cooperation in the transport sector between Cambodia and China.
H.E. Peng Ponea thanked the Government of China for its support and partnership with Cambodia, especially in transport sector development such as roads, bridges, expressways, railways, and many other master plans currently under study.
For his part, H.E. Li Yang pledged to expedite the remaining work and to continue to provide support to Cambodia in all areas, particularly human resource training to meet the goals of Pentagonal Strategy-Phase I of the Royal Government of Cambodia.
On the same day, the Cambodian transport minister also met with Secretary-General of ASEAN H.E. Dr. Kao Kim Hourn who on the occasion commended Cambodia for actively engaging in various initiatives aimed at improving regional transport infrastructure and promoting efficient cross-border transportation with the goals of enhancing connectivity and facilitating the movement of people, goods, and services across ASEAN.
