PHNOM PENH: According to a press release issued by the Ministry of Tourism on October 4, 2023, His Excellency SOK Soken, Minister of Tourism, and Mr. David Yuhong ZHAN, Vice Chairman and CEO of Cambodia Angkor Air met to discuss opportunities and potential for cooperation in promoting and developing the tourism sector, especially for the Chinese tourists.
During the meeting, His Excellency Minister requested that Cambodia Angkor Air continue to cooperate closely with the Ministry of Tourism to further promote and enhance Cambodia’s tourism in the 7th Mandate of the Royal Government, under the leadership of Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, who pays high attention to the public-private sector partnership.
Mr. Zhan congratulated His Excellency Minister on his recent appointment and reported on Cambodia Angkor Air’s activities, including the expansion of flights to potential cities in the region, especially major cities in China, India, and other targeted countries. He reaffirmed Cambodia Angkor Air’s unwavering support for the Ministry of Tourism under the spirit of solidarity and close partnership.
His Excellency Minister and Mr. Zhan agreed to cooperate with relevant institutions to organize visits to China and India to promote Cambodia’s tourism. Cambodia Angkor Air plans to launch new flights to main destinations in order to expand tourism cooperation between Cambodia and several provinces in Central China.
Both parties also agreed to jointly promote Siem Reap Angkor International Airport to become a major transit airport in the region and study the development of new tourism products between Siem Reap and neighboring countries to contribute to the rapid recovery of tourism in Siem Reap and surrounding areas.
Finally, His Excellency Minister and Mr. Zhan expressed joint commitment to further enhance cooperation in promoting the competitiveness, sustainability, and inclusiveness of Cambodian tourism.
The cooperation between the Ministry of Tourism and Cambodia Angkor Air is a positive step towards boosting Chinese tourism to Cambodia.
With the expansion of flights to major cities in China and other targeted countries, as well as the development of new tourism products, Cambodia is poised to attract more Chinese tourists in the coming years.
