PHNOM PENH: The Ministry of Commerce has sought to expand market for Cambodian cashew nuts to Japan.
H.E. Samheng Bora, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Commerce and Chairman of the Export Promotion Task Force, along with H.E. Nam Lynal, Under Secretary of State at the ministry, held a productive meeting with Mr. Takashi Inoue, CEO of Inoue Calcium Corporation, at the company’s headquarters in Kochi, Japan to discuss the export of the commodity to the Japanese market.
The meeting was also attended by Miss SOEUN Sothnita, co-founder of Handcrafted Cashew Nuts Stung Treng. The discussions centered on unlocking the potential of Cambodia’s cashew nut exports to Japan and identifying practical strategies to expand market access.
A key highlight of the meeting was the announcement that Inoue Calcium Corporation is piloting its first trial shipment of cashew nuts from Handcrafted Cashew Nuts Stung Treng to Japan.
The dialogue emphasised the Export Promotion Task Force of the Ministry of Commerce’s commitment to providing targeted support to enhance trade opportunities, foster stronger partnerships, and promote sustainable growth within Cambodia’s agricultural products sector, especially the export of Cambodian cashew nuts.
