Minister Huot Hak: “Every Cambodian, A Tourism Ambassador”

PHNOM PENH: In his inaugural meeting with leaders and officials of the Ministry of Tourism, newly appointed Minister Huot Hak emphasized the importance of every Cambodian citizen in promoting the country’s tourism industry.

The meeting, held on Monday, September 23, gathered over 350 officials from various levels of the ministry. Minister Huot Hak urged attendees to work together to foster unity, cooperation, and effective tourism promotion during the upcoming high and green seasons.

“Each of us, Cambodians of all walks of life, should actively participate in disseminating positive information about Cambodia and its tourism products, especially handmade crafts,” Minister Huot Hak stated. He also called upon subordinate units to be proactive, interactive, and cooperative with both domestic and international private sectors.

To further enhance tourism development, the minister requested close collaboration with ministries, institutions, stakeholders, and international partners at the sub-regional, regional, and global levels. This concerted effort aligns with the Royal Government’s political program and Pentagon Strategy – Phase 1, under the leadership of Prime Minister Hun Manet.

Cambodia’s tourism sector has been experiencing significant growth, with over 3.74 million international visitors registered in the first seven months of 2024, a 23.2% increase compared to the same period in 2023. Thailand remains the top source of foreign arrivals, followed by Vietnam, China, Laos, the United States, South Korea, Indonesia, France, the United Kingdom, and Japan.
