PHNOM PENH: On January 2, 2023, the construction of Kratie’s newest bridge was set for groundbreaking under the presidency of Samdech Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of Cambodia, with a $ 114 million concessional loan from the People’s Government of China.
The project will be carried out by Shanghai Construction Group (SCG). It will be technically supervised by Guangzhou Wanan Technical Consulting Company, with a construction period of 42 months and a completion date of 2026, with a total allocation of more than 114 million US dollars.
It’s a concessional loan from the Government of the People’s Republic of China, and a contribution from the Royal Government of Cambodia for dealing with the impact of demining, unexploded ordnance, and other tainted materials.
Simultaneously, Samdech Techo Prime Minister Hun Sen asked China to continue supporting another road project from Kratie to the Lao border, which will be a significant infrastructure link between the regional economic corridor (CLMV) and ASEAN.
PM Hun Sen expects more accomplishments during his upcoming trip to China, particularly the Phnom Penh-Bavet Expressway and other bridge constructions.
Cambodia also plans to spend more than $200 million to construct a new bridge across the Mekong River, connecting the expressway from the Lvea Em district to the Vietnamese border.
