PHNOM PENH: Korea Eximbank is committed to further strengthening the partnership cooperation with the Ministry of Rural Development to contribute to Cambodia’s rural development.
The commitment was made by the outgoing Director of Korea Eximbank in Cambodia, Ms. Minnie Chey, in a farewell meeting with H.E. Chhay Rithysen, Minister of Rural Development in Phnom Penh, on July 8.

Ms. Minnie Chey spoke highly of the cooperation between the ministry and Korea Eximbank in the implementation of a project under the Korea Economic Development Cooperation Fund (EDCF), stressing that during her three-year mission in the country so far, she clearly understood the importance of rural roads, which are indispensable economic arteries.
H.E. Chhay Rithysen highlighted the significance of the government’s cooperation with stakeholders, specifically with Korea Eximbank, in developing Cambodia, noting that for the past 15 years, the EDCF, through the Korea Eximbank, has granted concessional loans of over US$1.9 billion to Cambodia.
Through EDEF’s financing, the ministry has been implementing seven projects worth over US$400 million for the construction of rural roads and other needful infrastructures and facilities.
He encouraged the bank to continue supporting the ministry’s initiatives, such as model village development to accelerate growth in rural areas.
