PHNOM PENH: According to the Ministry of Tourism’s most recent forecast, Cambodia will receive 1.5 million to 2 million international tourists in 2022.
Cambodia received approximately 1 million international tourists in the first eight months of 2022, a 580% increase over the same period in 2021, while the number of domestic and international tourists leaving the country increased by 8.5 million. When compared to 2021, the increase is 245%.
H.E. Thong Khon, Minister of Tourism, stated at the graduation ceremony for coffee and beverage graduates at the Ministry of Tourism that Cambodia has received approximately 1 million more international visitors than in the previous period. It fell by 85% in the first eight months of 2019.
Minister, on the other hand, stated that at this time, businesses in the tourism sector continue to have a high demand for existing domestic and international tourists to promote the tourism movement and operate locally, the tourism industry must work together to provide quality services at reasonable prices.
The Royal Government also allows international tourists who have been in Cambodia for two years to visit Angkor Wat without purchasing a ticket.
The Minister stated that the Ministry of Tourism has considered and paid close attention to the tourism sector’s recovery by:
- Increasing trust and confidence
- improving service quality and safety for tourists in novel ways
- continuing to promote and attract both international and domestic tourists.
