PHNOM PENH: CREC, based in Malaysia, has expressed interest in investing in Cambodia’s public transportation projects, particularly the High-Speed Train.
On March 9, 2023, H.E. Touch Chan Kosal, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Public Works and Transport, and CREC from Malaysia’s regional headquarters met to present investment opportunities in Cambodia.
This working meeting was organized so that the company could learn about the study projects that are being directed by the Royal Government of Cambodia in the field of transportation and be willing to play a role in resolving congestion issues and lowering the cost of using transportation services in the country.
CREC also offers design, construction, real estate development, investment, finance, and transportation participation. Meanwhile, a Malaysian firm has expressed interest in investing in Cambodia’s public transportation projects, particularly the project to build a high-speed train.
Cambodia is currently involved in a number of research projects and is encouraging companies and development partners to form joint ventures. Major railway projects are the high-speed train, particularly on the existing Phnom Penh-Poipet and Phnom Penh-Sihanoukville railway lines, as well as the new Poipet-Siem Reap-Phnom Penh railway, the Phnom Penh Urban Light Rail Project, the AGT Project, and the Monorail Light Rail Project.
