PHNOM PENH: Kep province is set to host the 10th Sea Festival from Dec. 1 to 3 aimed to boost tourism development and attract more national and foreign tourists to visit the coastal province.
A preparatory meeting on the organization of the annual festival was held on Oct. 23 at the provincial hall under the chairmanship of Minister of Tourism H.E. Sok Soken, Kep Provincial Governor H.E. Som Piseth, relevant officials, and the private sector in the tourism sector.
“The Sea Festival this year will boost and promote the tourism sector by showcasing potential tourism products and sites in the province to tourists,” H.E. Sok Soken said.
The three-day festival will feature live concerts, artistic performances, a food and beverage show, a trade fair, fireworks, and sports, the minister added.
Under the recently launched Kep Tourism Development Master Plan 2023-2035, the province is designed to turn into a luxurious eco-tourism destination with a competitive edge against others beyond Cambodia.
Organized in different coastal provinces every year, the Sea Festival is aimed at promoting the country’s coastal areas to tourists and encouraging the protection of maritime resources.
Cambodia’s coastline, registered as a member of the World-Bays Club in 2011, stretches 450 kilometers over four southwestern provinces of Preah Sihanouk, Kep, Kampot, and Koh Kong.
