PHNOM PENH: A Chinese technology firm stated the intention to form a strategic partnership to kick-start e-commerce in Cambodia and promote Cambodian products in Chinese and global markets.
A Chinese delegation led by Dr. Li Kun, Chairman of the Board of Lanton Cloud Service Technology Co., Ltd., revealed the goal recently during a courtesy visit to H.E. Pan Sorasak, Minister of Commerce, at the ministry office.
Mr. Dr. Li Kun’s plan to promote e-commerce activities in Cambodia through its Lanton App, which will cover the promotion of Cambodian products, e-payment, product delivery and storage, facilitation of customs procedures, and other related work, was welcomed by H.E. Pan Sorasak.
The minister emphasized the potential of the Cambodia-China Free Trade Agreement (CAFTA) and the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) to boost economic activity through agricultural product exports (Pailin longans, bananas, cashew nuts, and other packaged food), as well as the need for additional investment in processing for export from Cambodia to markets in China and around the world.
The minister further reaffirmed the commitment of the Ministry of Commerce to a backup of the private sector by making laws and other necessary policies to enrich the investment and business environment in Cambodia.
H.E. Pan Sorasak advised the Chinese delegation to collaborate with H.E. Sok Sopheak, Secretary of State for the Ministry of Commerce, who will lead a working group for the preparation of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Commerce and Lanton Service Technology Co., Ltd.
