PHNOM PENH: H.E. Dr. Aun Pornmoniroth, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Economy and Finance, emphasized the critical role of entrepreneurship in driving Cambodia’s economic growth during the Entrepreneurial Ecosystem Day hosted by Khmer Enterprise on November 24-25, 2024.

“Strengthening the entrepreneurship ecosystem is both essential and urgent for accelerating economic growth by enhancing production capacity and standardization to expand domestic and international markets, ultimately reducing imports and increasing exports,” he stated.

The two-day event, held at the Koh Pich Convention and Exhibition Center, brought together over 300 participants, including ecosystem builders, to celebrate and advance Cambodia’s entrepreneurial landscape.

It featured a variety of programs, including a robot competition, the launch of UniPreneur Season 3, the Y2B Hackathon business model competition, the CAMESCO business networking, the Impact Investment Conference, and the Khmer Enterprise Awards Night.

H.E. Hem Vanndy, Minister of Industry, Science, Technology & Innovation, and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Khmer Enterprise, highlighted the event’s goal of empowering and inspiring the next generation of entrepreneurs.

“The Entrepreneurial Ecosystem Day aims to offer opportunities to network, share knowledge, and showcase creativity and innovation through exhibitions of products and services,” he said.

Since its inception, Khmer Enterprise has actively contributed to developing Cambodia’s entrepreneurial ecosystem, implementing 379 programs with a total budget of approximately $15 million and attracting around $25 million in partner funding.

Over 57,000 individuals have benefited directly from Khmer Enterprise’s programs, including high school and university students, startups, and MSMEs across the country. The organization has also provided about $3 million in grants and attracted approximately $12 million in private sector financing, alongside around $25 million in investments.
