Deputy PM Sun Chanthol Seeks to Expand KLN’s Presence in Cambodia

PHNOM PENH: Cambodia is actively seeking to attract more foreign investment, particularly in its growing logistics sector.

The Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC), a government agency responsible for investment promotion, has been in discussions with KLN, a major logistics company, about expanding its operations in the country.

On September 11, 2025, a delegation led by His Excellency Sun Chanthol, Deputy Prime Minister and First Vice Chairman of the CDC, met with Mr. Samuel Lau, Managing Director of Integrated Logistics Asia at KLN. The meeting, as reported by AKP, focused on KLN’s current business in Cambodia and future investment opportunities.

Mr. Lau highlighted that the recent opening of Techo International Airport on September 9, 2025, has significantly increased the potential for growth in Cambodia’s logistics sector.

In response, Deputy Prime Minister Sun Chanthol urged KLN to explore new investment projects, specifically suggesting the possibility of setting up warehouses, logistics centers, or special economic zones. These potential projects would be strategically located along the Funan Techo Canal, a major infrastructure initiative.

The Deputy Prime Minister also shared details about other promising projects in the logistics sector, which are part of the government’s broader Comprehensive Master Plan for Cambodia’s Intermodal Transport and Logistics System 2023-2033.

This plan includes a total of 174 projects aimed at improving Cambodia’s transport and logistics infrastructure, making it more attractive for international investors like KLN.
