PHNOM PENH: As of July 12, 2023, the construction of the Preah Monivong flyover was achieved at 25 percent and the project is expected to complete in August 2025.
The update was shared by the Phnom Penh Municipal Department of Public Works and Transport, adding that this is a two-story flyover that will ease the flow of traffic on Preah Monivong Blvd., Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen Blvd. and Royal Cambodian Armed Forces Blvd. (Street 271), and connect the downtown area to the Techo International Airport.
Built by the Cambodia Overseas Investment Corporation (OCIC) at an estimated cost of some US$36,77 million for a period of 36 months, the Preah Monivong flyover was broken ground on Aug. 31, 2022, under the presidency of Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen.
Phnom Penh’s flyovers already in operation include the Kbal Thnal Flyover inaugurated on June 24, 2010; January 7 Flyover on Jan. 6, 2012; Stung Meanchey Flyover on July 31, 2014; January 5 Flyover on Jan. 5, 2016; the Stop Psar Dey Hoy Flyover on July 2, 2018; Chom Chao flyover on Mar. 31, 2022; and Russey Keo flyover on May 31, 2023.
