Construction of Multipurpose Port in Kratie Mulled

PHNOM PENH: A Chinese company, KP Cement Industry Co., Ltd., is interested in constructing a multipurpose port and support infrastructure worth US$35 million in Kratie province to make it an agricultural product transportation hub.

The intention was revealed during a meeting between H.E. Dr. Hean Sahib, Advisor to the Prime Minister and Chairman of the Investment Promotion Working Group for the Northeast Provinces, and a senior delegation of the KP Cement Industry Co., Ltd. in Phnom Penh on Aug. 13.

H.E. Dr. Hean Sahib also informed the company’s delegation of a special investment promotion programme in the four northeast provinces, aiming to boost investment in priority sectors through special incentives, preferences, and procedural simplifications.

Officially launched in April, the special investment promotion programme 2025-2028 focuses on key sectors, including agriculture, agro-industry, and tourism in the four northeast provinces, which are Kratie, Stung Treng, Rattanakiri, and Mondulkiri.

The KP Cement Industry Co., Ltd. is a subsidiary of China’s Energy Engineering Group Co., Ltd., headquartered in Beijing, China, with 256 branches in 140 countries, which invests in the energy and infrastructure industries worldwide, with registered assets of approximately US$1 trillion in 2024 and 140,000 employees.
