PHNOM PENH: Young, dynamic entrepreneurs and a strong private sector are indispensable players in economic development because entrepreneurs, business owners, and the private sector are the blood vessels of the Cambodian economy.
The comments were made by H.E. Mrs. Cham Nimul, Minister of Commerce, while presiding over the opening ceremony of Cambodia Entrepreneurs Day 2024, held at the Institute of Technology of Cambodia (ITC) this morning under the theme “Investing in Young Entrepreneurs for Inclusive and Dynamic Economy,” with the participation Oknha Pech Bolen, President of Young Entrepreneurs Association of Cambodia (YEAC), Oknha Kuoch Pheng, Representative of Global Entrepreneurship Network in Cambodia (GEN Cambodia), senior officials of relevant ministries and institutions, business owners, students and many other national and international guests.
This forum will provide essential value in terms of sharing information, good experiences from speakers and relevant actors, and building better communication networks for all participants, she said.
H.E. Minister added that this year’s theme emphasises the important role of young entrepreneurs in creating competitive, innovative businesses, cultivating specific specialties and skills, and seizing new business and investment opportunities, especially digital commercialisation.
H.E. Cham Nimul encouraged investors, young entrepreneurs, and micro-, small-, and medium-sized enterprises to work together to study challenges and find solutions, as well as continue to develop their capabilities and specialisation by keeping up with the rapidly changing developments in science, technology, socio-economy, and competition in the digital age.
It is necessary to cooperate proactively and interactively in seizing potential opportunities to promote economic and trade growth and improve social well-being, she underlined.
The commerce minister also praised the YEAC and GEN Cambodia for their collaboration in organising this event, and highly valued YEAC’s numerous achievements over the past 15 years as well as its significant contribution to promoting national economic development. AKP
