PHNOM PENH: WWF-Cambodia has recently facilitated an exchange visit between local cocoa farmers from Mondulkiri and Rattanakiri provinces, spanning three districts: Vern Sai, O Yadav, and O Chum.
The event, held from April 26 to April 29, 2024, saw the participation of 30 individuals, including cocoa farmers, officials from the provincial Department of Agriculture and Forestry, and the Deputy Chief of the Department of Green Economy in the Ministry of Environment, said WWF-Cambodia in a new release this morning.
Supported by funding from the IKI through WWF Germany, the visit provided a platform for farmers to discuss cultivation techniques, pest management, and post-harvest processing, it pointed out.
This exchange facilitated relationship-building, mutual support, and the enhancement of knowledge and skills within the cocoa farming industry for all participants involved, said the source, adding that access to information, markets, and supportive policies remains crucial for the success of farmers.
