PHNOM PENH: According to H.E Pen Kosal, Governor of Oddar Meanchey Province, a coal-fired power plant in Trapeang Prasat district is set to open soon, and the transmission line from Oddar Meanchey to Siem Reap’s eastern substation has been completed.
Speaking at a press conference on “Success in the Past 5 Years of Oddar Meanchey Provincial Administration” yesterday, H.E Pen Kosal stated that the provincial working group and the national team are pushing for Oddar Meanchey to deliver electricity for all villages and communes by June or July.
The governor confirmed that the coal-fired power plant in Trapeang Prasat district will be operational soon, but the supply will be to Siem Reap first and then to the Samrong substation to supply Oddar Meanchey.
He explained that prior to the covid-19, the power supply in Siem Reap was insufficient, so the coal-fired power plant was connected to Siem Reap as first priority and continued to the Samrong substation.
A 212-hectare construction project for a 263-kW coal-fired power plant is now underway in Ou Svay commune, Trapeang Prasat district, Oddar Meanchey province.
