China’s foreign trade grew 5.8% in the first four months

ASIA: According to official data released on Tuesday, China witnessed a 5.8 percent year-on-year expansion in its total imports and exports, reaching 13.32 trillion yuan during the first four months of 2023.

The report highlights a growth of 10.6 percent in exports compared to the previous year, while imports saw a modest increase of 0.02 percent over the same period.

When measured in U.S. dollars, the overall foreign trade volume for the mentioned period amounted to 1.94 trillion U.S. dollars, indicating a decline of 1.9 percent compared to the previous year. These figures were provided by the General Administration of Customs.

In the month of April alone, there was a notable year-on-year increase of 8.9 percent in foreign trade.
