CDC Hosts 25 Chinese Institutions as Cambodia Strengthens Bilateral Investment Ties

PHNOM PENH-Deputy Prime Minister SUN Chanthol met with a high-level Chinese delegation representing 25 major institutions on Monday to discuss strategic, large-scale investment opportunities in the Kingdom.

The 25-member delegation was led by Dr. Wang Boyong, Vice President and Secretary General of the Beijing-based think tank, the China Institute for Innovation and Development Strategy (CIIDS). Coordinated by the Cambodia National Trade and Investment Promotion Association (CamTIPA), the meeting aimed to give Chinese investors a detailed overview of Cambodia’s business landscape and economic potential.

Speaking at the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC) headquarters, H.E. SUN Chanthol, who serves as the council’s First Vice Chairman, welcomed the delegates and urged them to consider Cambodia as a primary destination for their next major ventures. Joined by Cambodian Investment Board (CIB) Secretary General H.E. Chea Vuthy and other senior officials, the Deputy Prime Minister pointed to the country’s steady macroeconomic stability, strategic regional position, capable young workforce, and a modern legal framework offering attractive tax incentives.

“The Royal Government of Cambodia consistently regards the private sector as the core engine of growth,” the Deputy Prime Minister stated, underscoring the administration’s commitment to investor support. He highlighted proactive government measures designed to smooth the path for foreign capital, including the newly launched “Open Day with DPM” initiative, which debuts its first official session on September 1 to provide direct access between business leaders and top policymakers.

Throughout the afternoon session, representatives from the participating Chinese institutions outlined their areas of expertise, business operations, and prospective investment plans in the region. Delegates also raised specific technical queries regarding local legal provisions and sector-specific policy frameworks.

In response, Cambodian leadership offered detailed clarifications on regulatory procedures and highlighted key priority sectors targeted for development. The delegates expressed strong confidence in Cambodia’s economic outlook, thanking the government for its guidance and signaling plans to advance concrete investment partnerships in the near future.
