CCC and GS1 Cambodia Host Workshop to Elevate Khmer Products Through Digital Branding

PHNOM PENH — GS1 Cambodia, backed by the Cambodia Chamber of Commerce (CCC), successfully hosted a specialized workshop on “Enhancing Digital Branding through Content and Visual Creation for Khmer Products” last week.

Presided over by H.E. Oknha Nguon Mengtech, Director General of the CCC, the event gathered over 150 key stakeholders, including government officials, industry association representatives, financial executives, local producers, and retail merchants.

The initiative focused on equipping local entrepreneurs with the digital literacy, content creation, and visual marketing skills necessary to sharpen the competitive edge of Cambodian products in both domestic and global marketplaces.

Addressing the participants, H.E. Oknha Nguon Mengtech highlighted a structural shift in modern commerce, noting that the contemporary marketplace has transitioned directly onto consumer smartphones. He emphasized that modern branding extends far beyond logos; it is about crafting a compelling “story” and an immersive digital experience that fosters trust and emotional connection with today’s tech-savvy consumers.

To support this transition, the CCC is actively driving digital campaigns centered on upgrading packaging design standards and promoting the national “884” barcode—a vital tool for authenticating Cambodian origin and ensuring supply chain transparency.

The digital push received a substantial boost from financial partner MB Bank (Cambodia), which introduced tailored financing solutions to empower small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). The bank unveiled business credit lines featuring highly competitive interest rates starting at 6.5% per annum and extended repayment terms of up to 15 years, aimed at providing entrepreneurs with the liquidity needed for robust digital marketing campaigns and flexible cash flow management.

Beyond delivering actionable insights into digital marketing and professional product photography, the workshop concluded by facilitating strategic business matchmaking opportunities, connecting local producers directly with distributors and major supermarkets in alignment with the Royal Government’s sustainable digital economy strategy.
