PHNOM PENH: The Ministry of Industry, Science, Technology & Innovation (MISTI) and the Intellectual Property Office of Singapore (IPOS) jointly organised a seminar on “Patent, Industrial Design and Intellectual Property Registration and the Use of Technology” to promote the registration and protection of industrial property rights in Cambodia.

The seminar aimed to promote the use of electronic filing (e-filing) systems to reduce time and costs; share Singapore’s best practices in protecting and managing intellectual property in line with international standards; and enhance awareness among businesses and innovators on the use of technology to safeguard their legitimate interests.

Secretary of State at MISTI H.E. Phok Sovannrith stated, “Intellectual property is the backbone of innovation and economic competitiveness, and cooperation with IPOS will help drive Cambodia toward a knowledge-based economy.”

This cooperation not only facilitates Singaporean businesses operating in Cambodia, but also strengthens the intellectual property protection system, enhances investor confidence, and supports innovation-driven and competitive economic development.

Cooperation between the two sides, which began in 2015, has achieved key outcomes, including: Signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on industrial property (2015); Renewal of the MoU (2020–2025 and 2025–2030); Mutual recognition of patents and industrial designs; Designation of IPOS as a search and examination authority; and Capacity building for officials through training programmes.

The post Cambodia, Singapore Strengthen Intellectual Property Cooperation to Promote a Knowledge-based and Innovation-driven Economy first appeared on Estatedia | Economy & Real Estate Media in Cambodia.

PHNOM PENH: Bamnang Holding PTE. LTD has become the only digital startup from Cambodia selected to participate in the Business Innovations Generator (BIG) 2026 programme in Singapore, marking a significant milestone for Cambodia’s growing digital entrepreneurship ecosystem.

The Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications (MPTC) congratulated Bamnang Holding on its achievement, noting that the company was chosen from more than 200 digital startups worldwide, with only 35 ultimately selected for the prestigious programme. To date, BIG has supported over 355 startups and facilitated approximately US$400 million in investment.

In addition to its participation in BIG 2026, Bamnang Holding has joined the Action Community for Entrepreneurship (ACE.SG) and the Stage One programme – initiatives led by Enterprise Singapore and the Singapore Economic Development Board – aimed at helping high-potential startups scale and expand into international markets.

MPTC also highlighted that, through its digital startup support programmes, Bamnang Holding secured investment in 2025 from Plug and Play, a global innovation platform. This investment reflects Cambodia’s ongoing efforts to foster a supportive and enabling environment for digital entrepreneurs to grow domestically and compete on the global stage.

The post Bamnang Holding Selected as Cambodia’s Sole Digital Startup for BIG 2026 in Singapore first appeared on Estatedia | Economy & Real Estate Media in Cambodia.

PHNOM PENH: The Accelerating Inclusive Markets for Smallholders (AIMS) Project reported strong gains in gender inclusion, market integration and financing mobilisation, benefiting smallholder farmers in rural areas.

Implemented by the Ministry of Commerce with support from the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), the project has reached 94,499 rural households across 18 provinces, exceeding its original outreach target ahead of schedule, according to an AIMS statement released on Feb. 2.

Women account for 62 percent of beneficiaries, surpassing the project’s gender target and reinforcing their role as key drivers of inclusive rural growth.

H.E. Eng Sothyvon, AIMS Project Director and Director General of the General Department of Domestic Trade at the Ministry of Commerce, said the project’s progress reflects strong coordination with provincial authorities and private-sector partners.

“AIMS is progressing well thanks to strong collaboration across provinces and with our private-sector partners,” he said. “With additional financing, we will further strengthen business clusters and market linkages to deliver greater benefits for smallholder farmers.”

The project’s performance is underpinned by an integrated approach that combines targeted grants, commercial lending and institutional strengthening to connect rural smallholders to higher-value markets.

Through the Value Chain Innovation Fund (VCIF) and a Line of Credit implemented in partnership with the Agricultural and Rural Development Bank (ARDB), AIMS has mobilised more than US$15 million in combined grant and loan financing.

These investments have supported productivity-enhancing technologies, post-harvest handling and market infrastructure across priority agricultural value chains, including vegetables, chicken, rice seed and cassava.
Women have played a central role, representing 55 percent of VCIF grant recipients and 56 percent of farm-level innovation beneficiaries, enabling them to scale production, improve quality and access more stable markets.

IFAD Country Director and Representative in Cambodia, Mr. Frew Behabtu, said the results demonstrate that gender inclusion delivers tangible economic returns.

“Gender equality is not just about numbers, but about empowerment, opportunity and resilience,” he said. “When Cambodian women thrive, Cambodia’s rural economy prospers.”

An IFAD annual supervision mission conducted in December 2025 confirmed steady implementation progress, noting the establishment of 350 business clusters, an 84 percent adoption rate of improved production technologies and the facilitation of 1,491 buy-and-sell contracts with a cumulative trade value of US$245 million.

The mission also highlighted strengthened sustainability and accountability through enhanced Social, Environmental and Climate Assessment Procedures and the rollout of a Grievance Redress Mechanism across all project areas, supporting long-term and responsible rural market development.

PHNOM PENH: Cambodia has solidified a decade-long strategic partnership with China’s Mizuda Group to modernise the nation’s urban waste infrastructure, a move officials say is critical to both public health and the country’s “green” economic transition.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), signed Thursday by the Ministry of Environment under the auspices of its Minister H.E. Dr. Eang Sophalleth, establishes a technical framework for 2026-2036. The deal focuses on high-tech waste sorting, the extraction of economic value from refuse, and the development of waste-to-energy projects at provincial landfills.

Addressing the delegation, H.E. Minister framed the environmental overhaul as a fundamental pillar of national development.

“Environment is life,” the Minister stated. “To live well, we must unite to clean our ‘home.’ A clean environment ensures a healthy population and drives economic progress.”

The initiative is a key component of the Ministry’s Circular Strategy on Environment, a policy directed by Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet to transition Cambodia toward a sustainable, carbon-neutral economy.

H.E. Dr. Eang Sophalleth emphasised that the strategy begins with individual accountability and scales up to international-standard waste management.

The 10-year agreement further cements the “iron-clad” diplomatic ties between Cambodia and China. The Minister noted that the partnership reflects a growing technical synergy between the two nations, specifically in the field of environmental engineering.

Under the agreement, Mizuda Group Co., Ltd. will begin drafting strategic assessment plans to align Cambodia’s urban waste disposal with international hygiene standards.

Key objectives of the 10-year roadmap include: Upgrading provincial landfills to meet modern sanitation laws; Enhancing the recycling sector to transform waste into a revenue-generating industry; Implementing waste-to-energy technologies to bolster the national power grid.

The Ministry of Environment continues to push its “Clean, Green, and Sustainable” agenda, aiming to enhance Cambodia’s appeal for international investment and tourism through improved urban aesthetics and ecological health.

The post Cambodia Inks 10-Year Waste-to-Energy Deal with China’s Mizuda Group first appeared on Estatedia | Economy & Real Estate Media in Cambodia.

The five projects focus on agriculture and tourism, including the cultivation and processing of rubber and coffee as well as the development of sacred tourism areas.

Following the meeting, the working group visited project sites and held direct discussions with company representatives to review technical aspects, as well as proposals and challenges raised by investors.

The SPIN Programme aims to attract sustainable investment to Cambodia’s northeastern region by offering targeted incentives and streamlining procedures, while supporting job creation and local economic development.

The post SPIN Programme Reviews Agriculture and Tourism Investments in Mondulkiri Province first appeared on Estatedia | Economy & Real Estate Media in Cambodia.

PHNOM PENH: Cambodia’s efforts to strengthen links between farmers and private buyers advanced further with the signing of an additional rice supply contract in Kampong Thom province, the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF) said.

The agreement was signed between a green company and two modern agricultural cooperatives, under the chairmanship of H.E. Khim Finan, the ministry’s Under-Secretary of State.

The total volume of rice contracted between green companies and modern agricultural cooperatives nationwide has exceeded 40,000 tonnes, with a combined value estimated at around US$9.2 million, according to the ministry’s statement issued on Jan. 4.

Officials said the contract reflects steady progress in the government’s push to promote modern agricultural cooperative by ensuring reliable market access and price certainty for farmers before the planting season begins. The approach is aimed at reducing income risks caused by price fluctuations and dependence on middlemen.

H.E. Khim Finan said the ministry has now completed market linkages for all modern agricultural cooperatives for the current rice season, with prices agreed in advance.

“This has helped farmers plan production more confidently while meeting the quality and volume requirements of private buyers,” he said.

MAFF has worked with financial institutions to expand access to affordable credit. About 2,000 farming households have so far received low-interest loans to support rice cultivation across nearly 15,000 hectares in Battambang, Banteay Meanchey, Siem Reap, Kampong Thom and Kampong Chhnang provinces.

Rice remains one of Cambodia’s key agricultural exports, and the ministry has stressed that deeper cooperation between farmers, agribusinesses and the government will be essential to sustaining growth and competitiveness in regional and international markets.

The post New Rice Contract Farming Reached to Ensure Reliable Market Access and Price first appeared on Estatedia | Economy & Real Estate Media in Cambodia.

PHNOM PENH: The Mekong-Lancang cooperation project on strengthening small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and technical cooperation in Industry 4.0 concluded on Thursday, alongside an awards ceremony recognising outstanding student innovators in food product development.

Co-presided over by H.E. Hem Vanndy, Minister of Industry, Science, Technology & Innovation, and H.E. Wang Wenbin, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to the Kingdom of Cambodia, the event marked the completion of an 18-month project (2024-2025) implemented in Cambodia, Lao PDR, and Myanmar under the Mekong-Lancang Cooperation (MLC) framework.

In his address, Minister Vanndy highlighted the project’s practical outcomes in building technical and entrepreneurial capacity among SMEs and fostering cooperation among Mekong-Lancang countries.

“This project has delivered concrete results in strengthening SME capacity, promoting the adoption of new technologies, and improving productivity and competitiveness,” he said. “It also demonstrates the value of technical cooperation and shared learning among Mekong-Lancang countries in responding to the challenges and opportunities of Industry 4.0.”

He further emphasised the importance of sustaining momentum beyond the project’s completion, adding that, “While the project has concluded, the knowledge, partnerships, and skills developed through this cooperation should continue to be applied and expanded to support long-term SME development in the three countries.”

Ambassador Wang Wenbin noted that Mekong-Lancang countries have increasingly embraced technology and innovation to support economic development and improve production capacity. He said China has played an active role in sharing development experience, technical expertise, and resources with Mekong-Lancang countries, helping to strengthen capacity, promote practical cooperation, and pave the way for deeper regional integration and sustainable growth.

The ceremony also featured the awards presentation for the Cambodian Business Incubation for Food Product Development (CBI-Food) programme, a key project activity promoting innovation in food processing using local raw materials. Following a nationwide competition involving 30 student teams, eight finalist teams presented their products, with three teams receiving first, second, and third place awards.

PHNOM PENH: Cambodia Women Entrepreneurs Day 2025 spotlighted the pivotal role of women entrepreneurs in driving Cambodia’s sustainable and inclusive growth, according to the Ministry of Industry, Science, Technology & Innovation (MISTI).

Held under the theme “From Vision to Action: Women Entrepreneurs Drive a Greener Future,” the annual event brought together about 300 women business leaders, policymakers, and innovators to share experiences, celebrate achievements, and explore solutions for integrating sustainability into business practices.

Speaking at the closing ceremony, H.E. Hem Vanndy, Minister of MISTI, said, “Moving toward green production, transparent supply chains, and ethical business is not just a trend—it is the new standard for global trade.”

According to Cambodia’s Economic Census 2022, around 70 percent of the country’s economic units are led or owned by women, underscoring their crucial role in local production, job creation, and community development. However, most of these women-led economic units continue to operate in the informal sector, limiting their ability to access formal financing, government incentives, and business development services.

The Minister acknowledged the challenges women entrepreneurs face in adopting greener practices. “Eco-friendly materials, renewable energy systems, green technology or green certifications can be expensive at the beginning, especially for small enterprises with limited capital,” he said.

He encouraged women entrepreneurs to take practical steps such as monitoring energy use, reducing waste, and sourcing more sustainable raw materials, particularly from local agricultural sources.

The Cambodia Women Entrepreneurs Day 2025 also honoured nine outstanding women entrepreneurs for their contributions to job creation, revenue growth, and the innovative, sustainable development of products and services—demonstrating the determination, resilience, and leadership of Cambodian women in building a green and inclusive economy.

The post Cambodia Women Entrepreneurs Day Highlights Role of Women in Driving Green Economy first appeared on Estatedia | Economy & Real Estate Media in Cambodia.

PHNOM PENH: Kirirom Food Production (KFP) Co., Ltd., a Cambodian company has exported its first shipment of 20 metric tonnes of natural dried mangoes to Australia.

This is the first shipment under a long-term trade agreement (2024-2030) between KFP and a major Australia-based wholesale distributor, paving the way for the supply of Cambodian dried mangoes to leading retailers across Australia, said a press release of the Australian Embassy in Phnom Penh dated Nov. 7.

“This export partnership is evidence of the growing strength of cooperation between Australia and Cambodia. It also shows how targeted support and private sector partnerships can open up new markets and improve the competitiveness of Cambodia’s agri-food sector,” Australian Ambassador to the Kingdom of Cambodia, H.E. Derek Yip said. “This export of Cambodian dried mangoes to aligns closely with Australia’s Southeast Asia Economic Strategy to 2040, which aims to deepen economic cooperation between Australia and Southeast Asia.”

KFP Managing Director Ms. Dalis Chhorn said, ‘We are delighted to take Cambodian mangoes to Australian consumers. Our partnership with Australia not only benefits our 1,700 plus employees – 60 percent of whom are women – but also increase smallholder farmer income and enhances Cambodia’s reputation for quality produce.’

According to the press release, the deal was made possible through support from Australia through the Cambodia Australia Partnership for Resilient Economic Development (CAPRED) programme, which helped KFP to boost its export readiness and increase business linkages with Australia.

This success coincides with the installation of Cambodia’s first mango purée production line at KFP, enabled through technical support from Australia. The new machinery allows the innovative transformation of mango waste into valuable product. It will allow KFP to buy mangoes regardless of size from farmers to process into puree and juice, serving both local and international markets.

The embassy also reaffirmed Australia’s continued assistance to Cambodian enterprises to expand their export potential. In 2024, bilateral trade between Cambodia and Australia reached US$1.1 billion, with more than 70 percent of this trade made up of Cambodian exports to Australia.

This 20-tonne shipment follows recent exports of dried fruits and processed cashews by Royal Trust Trading and milled rice by Amru Rice, it pointed out.

“Australia remains committed to supporting inclusive, sustainable and resilient economic growth in Cambodia and helping its agricultural producers to process more agrifoods domestically for export to high value global markets,” underlined the embassy.

The post Cambodian Dried Mangoes Reach Australia Shelves first appeared on Estatedia | Economy & Real Estate Media in Cambodia.
