Canadia Bank Partners with Cambodia Trade Enterprise to Boost Local Exporters and Agricultural Sector

PHNOM PENH (AKP) — Canadia Bank, one of Cambodia’s largest domestic commercial banks, has signed a strategic Memorandum of Understanding with the newly established Cambodia Trade Enterprise to bolster the nation’s export sector and drive international trade development.

The agreement was finalized during the state-owned enterprise’s official inauguration ceremony on June 12, 2026. Backed by the Ministry of Commerce, the Cambodia Trade Enterprise was created specifically to promote and facilitate the export of Cambodian agricultural products and agro-processing industries to global markets. Through this alliance, both institutions aim to expand international market access for local businesses by delivering customized financing solutions tailored to accelerate growth.

The high-profile signing ceremony was held under the chairmanship of His Excellency Kem Sithan, Permanent Secretary of State and high representative of Her Excellency Cham Nimul, Minister of Commerce. Ms. Song Khenglay, Chief Executive Officer and Chief Operating Officer of Canadia Bank, represented the commercial bank to officially sign and launch the partnership.

Under the terms of the new agreement, export-oriented operations and small to medium-sized enterprises across Cambodia’s agricultural sectors will secure significant financial backing. Canadia Bank plans to design bespoke funding packages to optimize cash flow management and meet critical working capital needs for these local producers.

Beyond direct financial credit, the partnership will explore the development of targeted capacity-building initiatives, providing local business owners with essential training in financial literacy, export finance protocols, and international market intelligence.

Ms. Song Khenglay emphasized the bank’s dedication to local enterprise development following the ceremony, stating that as the nation’s premier domestic bank, they are actively committed to fueling the growth of local industries.

She noted that the partnership allows the bank to deliver accessible and flexible capital that can directly strengthen Cambodia’s agricultural value chain and unlock new international trade channels. She added that Canadia Bank will maintain close cooperation with both the Ministry of Commerce and the Cambodian Chamber of Commerce to provide sustained support for export-driven businesses and further advance Cambodia’s cross-border trading capabilities.

This strategic initiative highlights Canadia Bank’s ongoing commitment to driving Cambodia’s macroeconomic development. The collaboration closely aligns with the Royal Government of Cambodia’s Pentagonal Strategy-Phase 1 and the Ministry of Commerce’s Trade Policy Framework 2030, both of which emphasize increasing export readiness, ensuring strict compliance with international standards, and enhancing the global competitiveness of Cambodian goods.
