PHNOM PENH: As of November 2024, licensed gold refineries in Cambodia have unearthed a remarkable quantity of gold, nearing 13 tonnes.
This significant milestone was announced by H.E. Ung Dipola, Director General of the General Department of Mines of the Ministry of Mines and Energy, during a press conference on November 6th.
The primary contributor to this achievement is Renaissance Minerals (Cambodia), operating in Mondulkiri province. The company has refined 807 gold bars, weighing a total of 12,536 kilograms.
In addition, Rong Cheng Industrial Investment, another gold refinery in the same province, has produced 12 gold bars, equivalent to approximately 22 kilograms.
Director General Ung Dipola further highlighted that Cambodia currently licenses ten gold refineries.
It’s worth noting that Renaissance Minerals (Cambodia) made history as Cambodia’s first gold producer in June 2021, with a substantial investment of around US$120 million in fixed assets.
