PHNOM PENH: Cambodia’s aviation industry has hit a new record high in air passenger trips last year, thanks to increase in international flight frequencies and air connections, according to the State Secretariat of Civil Aviation (SSCA).
Three international airports handled a combined 6.98 million air passengers last year, up 12 percent from 6.24 million in 2024, read the SSCA’s report released on Jan. 14.
The source showed that the three airports served 64,821 flight movements during the period, a year-on-year increase of 11 percent, while air cargo volume decreased by 12 percent to 93,889 tonnes.

SSCA Secretary of State and Spokesperson H.E Sinn Chanserey Vutha attributed the aviation industry’s positive performance to the increasing international route connection from major global destinations to Cambodia coupled with improved airport infrastructures.
“This momentum is attributed to improved airport infrastructure and increase in international flight frequencies between Cambodia and major global destinations,” he said.
Cambodia has 36 airlines including four domestic airlines and 32 foreign airlines and is connecting flights with 46 destinations in 17 countries, stated the report.
Among these 17 countries, Air Cambodia, the national flag carrier, connects to eight ASEAN countries and China, South Korea, the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Taiwan, India, and Japan.
Notably, in 2025, international airlines such as Turkish Airlines, Emirates Airlines, Etihad Airways, IndiGo, Firefly Airlines launched their flight services to Cambodia.
Since the introduction of the “Open Sky Policy” in 1999, Cambodia has experienced significant growth in air transport. This policy has been instrumental in facilitating tourism, business, trade, and socio-cultural exchanges between Cambodia and the rest of the world.
