PHNOM PENH: On September 19, 2023, Cambodia’s Minister of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries, H.E. Dith Tina, and his team met with representatives of Nishida Barley Processing Co., Ltd. to discuss the company’s plans to promote the cultivation of “Skuy-Barley” in Cambodia and export it to Japan.
Minister Tina welcomed the company’s investment, noting that it aligns with the government’s priority of promoting potential and marketable agricultural products to improve farmers’ incomes and livelihoods.
He acknowledged that Cambodia has strengths in production and cultivation, but needs more investment in high-value-added processing, especially for export markets.
In his speech, the Minister emphasized that the key to encouraging farmers to grow new crops, capture new markets, and create new production chains is for companies to ensure a large and sustainable market and provide long-term profits for farmers.
The Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries is cooperating with Nishida Company to further study the investment potential and provide support.
