Cambodian businesses learn best practices during Procal Dairies visit in Australia

PHNOM PENH: A Cambodian business delegation led by Dr. Hor SereyVath, Chairman of the Innovation and Development Investors Association (IDI), recently visited Procal Dairies Pty Ltd in Australia.

The delegation was warmly received by the Procal Dairies management team, who expressed their interest in pursuing strategic cooperation. These discussions centered around bringing Procal Dairies’ products to Cambodia and potentially using Cambodia as a distribution hub for the entire ASEAN region.

The visit proved to be a valuable learning experience for the Cambodian delegation. They gained insights into Procal Dairies’ successful practices, including their use of automated production lines, rigorous safety and hygiene standards, eco-friendly packaging materials, and effective market entry and sales strategies. The delegation was also impressed by Procal Dairies’ family-oriented business philosophy, which prioritizes long-term success and continuity across generations.

Procal Dairies, founded in 2002 by Adam Thyssen, is a true Australian family business. The Thyssen family previously established The Original Juice Co. into a market-leading brand of juices and drinks. Today, Procal Dairies remains firmly in the Thyssen family’s hands, producing an award-winning range of Procal branded Milk, Flavoured Milk, Cream, Sour Cream and Yoghurts.

A recent trade mission to Melbourne, Australia, provided opportunities for Cambodian businesses in the agriculture and food sector. Organized by the Innovation and Development Investors Association (IDI), ID Capital Plc, Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC), and Victorian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) in March 2024, the Agribusiness and Trade Mission connected over 40 Cambodian companies with Australian counterparts. The mission coincided with the Cambodia-Australia Business Forum and ASEAN Australia Special Summit, further enhancing the focus on Cambodia-Australia business ties.
