Cambodia, Vietnam Inaugurate New International Border Gate

PHNOM PENH: Cambodia and Vietnam this morning inaugurated the Muen Chey-Tan Nam International Border Gate, located between Cambodia’s Prey Veng province and Vietnam’s Tay Ninh province, marking a significant step forward in strengthening trade, tourism, and bilateral cooperation.

The inauguration ceremony was held in Prey Veng province under the presidency of Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, and his Vietnamese counterpart, H.E. Pham Minh Chinh.

In his remarks, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet said the event reflects the solidarity, traditional friendship, and mutual trust between the two nations, which have transformed the shared border areas into peaceful zones that facilitate exchanges, economic activities, and improved livelihoods for people on both sides.

“I believe that the new international border gate will support the development and well-being of the people of both sides, particularly the provinces of Prey Veng and Tay Ninh, through enhanced trade, tourism, and security,” he underlined.

For his part, H.E. Pham Minh Chinh said the new border gate represents another step toward deeper connectivity between Cambodia and Vietnam. “Relations between our two nations have been consistently expanding, and we will continue to work together for the development of both countries,” he said.

He added that the Cambodia-Vietnam border has long played an active role in promoting local trade and economic growth, as well as fostering people-to-people ties.

“This new border gate will further contribute to our shared goal of achieving US$20 billion in bilateral trade in the future,” he noted.

During the first ten months of 2025, bilateral trade between Cambodia and Vietnam reached US$6.58 billion, an increase of 2.61 percent year-on-year. Cambodia imported US$3.44 billion worth of goods, a slight decline of 0.21 percent, while exports reached US$3.14 billion, up 5.88 percent.
