PHNOM PENH: The two main road construction projects will sign during China’s Prime Minister visits Cambodia and attends the ASEAN Summit on November 9, 2022, the National Road 7 from Skun to Kampong Cham and the Phnom Penh-Bavet Expressway.
Senior Minister Sun Chanthol, Minister of Public Works and Transport, stated on October 27 that the Phnom Penh-Bavet Expressway study is progressing and will be completed by November 9, 2022. The projects will be signed when Chinese Premier Li Keqiang visits Cambodia.
The Phnom Penh-Bavet Expressway is scheduled to open in June 2023, according to the road construction company in charge of the Phnom Penh-Sihanoukville Expressway project.
Separately, with the completion of the study negotiations, National Road No. 7, which connects Skun to Kampong Cham, will be expanded from two to four lanes. A loan agreement for the construction of National Road 7 from Skun to Kampong Cham will be signed when the Chinese Prime Minister visits Cambodia in the near future.
The Minister confirmed that Cambodia has plans to build more roads, some of which have been studied and others are under review. However, due to a lack of funds, Cambodia could not make all the projects at once and was forced to open construction sites on economically priority roads.
