Cambodia to add sixth cement factory to meet growing demand

PHNOM PENH: Prime Minister Hun Sen announced that Kampong Speu province will soon have a new cement factory with an annual capacity of 2 million tonnes.

Speaking at a get-together with about 18,000 factory workers in Kampong Speu this morning, Samdech Techo Hun Sen underlined that the province has seen much development and now ranks second in the country in attracting investment in the garment sector.

The new factory will be Cambodia’s sixth cement factory and will help meet the growing demand for cement in the country. Cambodia currently has five cement factories that can only produce a total of 9 million tonnes of cement per year.

The new cement factory is a sign of the growing economic development of Cambodia. The country is becoming a more attractive destination for investment, and the new factory will help to create jobs and boost the economy.

The construction sector is also booming in Cambodia, and the new cement factory will help meet the demand for cement from this sector. The factory is expected to be completed in the near future.

Those five existing cement factories, include Kampot Cement, Cambodia Cement Chakrey Ting, Chip Mong Insee, Battambang Conch Cement, and Thai Bun Rong.
