PHNOM PENH: H.E. Sun Chanthol, Deputy Prime Minister and First Vice President of the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC), led on Nov. 4 a delegation to meet with representatives of GE Vernova, a leading U.S. company in energy technology and sustainable grid development.
In the meeting held in Washington DC, H.E. Deputy Prime Minister briefed Mr. George A. Pickart, Director of Government Affairs and Global Policy of GE Vernova, on the vision of the Royal Government of Cambodia to build a stable, affordable, and environmentally friendly energy system.
He also emphasised the important role of GE Vernova in helping Cambodia strengthen its grid infrastructure (Grid Solutions) to embrace renewable energy in line with current global trends.
Additionally, H.E. Sun Chanthol, requested GE Vernova to consider expanding its investment activities beyond GE’s current presence in Cambodia, focusing on providing solutions such as Smart Grid Solutions with the import of energy management and storage technologies to improve energy efficiency across the country.
In response, Mr. George expressed his high appreciation for Cambodia’s economic progress and agreed that developing the energy sector is key to future economic growth.
On behalf of GE Vernova, he also expressed his willingness to continue providing technical support and consultation to relevant Cambodian institutions, especially on the formulation of long-term energy policies and the implementation of international standards.
The meeting reaffirmed the joint commitment between Cambodia and GE Vernova to enhance cooperation on key infrastructure projects in Cambodia.
The CDC, as the single gateway of the Royal Government, will continue to coordinate closely with GE Vernova to ensure that modern energy technology investment projects are successfully implemented in line with the direction of global climate change.
H.E. Sun Chanthol is leading a delegation of high-ranking officials and key private sector’s representatives to pay an official visit to the U.S. for ‘knock-door-mission”, an active diplomatic and economic strategy aimed at promoting trade and attract foreign investment by directly engaging with international partners.
During his stay in the U.S., DPM has met with key U.S. leading companies including McDonald’s Corporation and Medline, manufacturing and distributing medical and surgical supplies, discussing and exploring investment opportunities in Cambodia.
