Cambodia secured 866,250 tonnes of fishery catches in 2023

PHNOM PENH: Cambodia secured fishery catches of around 866,250 tonnes in 2023, up 4,050 tonnes, or about one percent compared to 2022.

The figure was reported by H.E. Pum Sotha, the Government Delegate in charge of the Fisheries Administration, in a recapitulative meeting of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries.

H.E. Dith Tina, Minister of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries, chaired the meeting that took place on Jan. 9 here in Phnom Penh.

Of the total catches, 426,750 tonnes were freshwater catch (up 20,350 tonnes or 5.01 percent) and 125,500 tonnes were seawater catch (up 300 tonnes or 0.24 percent).

The country’s aquaculture output was 314,000 tonne last year, showing a fall of 16,600 tonne, or 5.02 percent, compared with 2022.
