Cambodia ranks world’s fourth recovered country post-pandemic

PHNOM PENH: The Nikkei website ranks Cambodia as the fourth fastest-recovering country from the pandemic, based on the COVID-19 Recovery Index.

The Nikkei COVID-19 Recovery Index ranks 121 countries and territories worldwide in terms of viral infection control, vaccinations, and social mobility. Cambodia has been ranked as one of the ten best recovering countries in the world for the last four months in a row.

When the index rises, it indicates that the country or region has recovered better from virus transmission due to fewer new cases, higher vaccination rates, and measures to keep the social distance lower than before.

The success rate is the result of Cambodia continuing to push its vaccination campaign widely and quickly, and Cambodia has fully opened the country to international tourism.

Cambodia had vaccinated 15.2 million people, or 95.08 percent of its 16 million population, as of October 22, 2022.
