PHNOM PENH: Cambodia has produced more than 8.28 tonnes of dore bars with 90 percent pure gold solution since commercial mining started in June 2021, a senior official said on Monday.
Ung Dipola, director general of the General Department of Mineral Resources under the Ministry of Mines and Energy, said that currently, the country has six gold mining companies.
“As of Sept. 22, 2023, the six companies had produced 919 gold bars, totally weighing 8,288 kilograms,” he said in a news release, adding that the government earned more than 13 million U.S. dollars in royalties from those mining firms.
