PHNOM PENH: Cambodia’s bilateral trade with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) is poised to grow further after the Cambodia Private Commercial Centre was officially launched in Dubai.
The inauguration ceremony of the Cambodia Private Commercial Centre was held on Feb. 26 in Dubai under the presidency of H.E. Mrs. Tekreth Kamrang, Secretary of State at the Cambodian Ministry of Commerce with the participation of relevant leaders and officials of both Cambodia and UAE, and representatives of Oneroad Group.
“The Cambodia Private Commercial Centre in Abu Dhabi is established to promote and export Cambodian products to international markets, as well as to disseminate documents related to Cambodia’s trade, economy, investment, culture, and tourism to traders, investors, and international tourists, especially from the UAE,” read a statement of the Ministry of Commerce.
Cambodia and UEA are strengthening and expanding their bilateral trade through the Cambodia-UAE Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CAM-UEA CEPA). The two countries signed the terms of reference for the establishment of the agreement in October 2021.
According to the Ministry of Commerce, the two-way trade between Cambodia and the UAE reached US$151 million in 2021, marking a 53 percent increase from 2020.
Key items in bilateral trade include clothing, footwear, bicycles, travel goods, tobacco, milled rice, electrical appliances, vehicle components, asphalt, tuber sugars, animal feed, plastics, vehicles and paper.
