PHNOM PENH: The Department of Public Works and Transport of 12 provinces in Cambodia rushed to repair 21 roads within a week from September 16 to September 22, 2023.
The technical team worked tirelessly to reseal, pave stones, widen roads, clear sidewalks, plant signposts, and paint earthworks, install drainage systems and ditches, and install signs and traffic lights.
They also cut grass on the road, ground and compacted foundations, cleared chicken coops, and drew lines, and installed traffic signs on many roads.
The roads that were repaired include sections of National Road No. 1, No. 2, No. 3, No. 33A, No. 48-5, No. 6, No. 61, No. 62, No. 64, No. 67, No. 68, No. 7, No. 76, No. 78, No. 70, No. 72, No. 78C, No. 8, No. 9, No. 11, and No. 95. The government hopes that the repaired roads will facilitate the travel of the people, facilitate the transportation of goods on time, and reduce traffic accidents.
The government also appeals to the public to respect the law and not abuse the land for business or personal gain. Avoid pouring soil higher than the road and do not carry more than the weight limit to maintain the quality of the road.
If the road is damaged, people can also download the road care program (Road Care) and report to the Ministry of Public Works and Transport (MPWT) to be able to assign a team to repair and maintain it in time.
Cambodia’s infrastructure sector is an important basis for attracting local and foreign investors to invest and increase employment for Cambodians.
The government has made it a top priority for the relevant ministries to implement. As part of this effort, the government has also continued to pay close attention to the maintenance of national roads in the provinces.
