PHNOM PENH: The inaugural Cambodia-Europe Public-Private Sector Dialogue, held on September 17 at the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC), was a pivotal step in fostering a more conducive environment for European investors in the Kingdom.
The event, a mechanism designed to address concerns and challenges faced by European businesses, aimed to enhance investor confidence and attract additional European investment.
Co-chaired by H.E. Sun Chanthol, Deputy Prime Minister and First Vice President of the CDC, and H.E. Igor Driesmans, Ambassador of the European Union to Cambodia, the dialogue brought together representatives from government ministries, diplomatic missions, and the private sector.
Key participants included H.E. Jacques Pellet, Ambassador of France to Cambodia, Mr. Tassilo Brinzer, Chairman of EuroCham Cambodia, and representatives of the EU-ASEAN Business Council.
In his remarks, H.E. Sun Chanthol emphasized the Royal Government’s commitment to supporting European investors and highlighted the CDC’s efforts to attract and facilitate investment from the European Union. He announced plans for a second “knock-on-door” mission to Europe, building on the success of the initial mission in June.
H.E. Igor Driesmans expressed his support for the dialogue as a valuable platform for fostering collaboration between Cambodian and European stakeholders. He reiterated the EU’s ongoing commitment to Cambodia’s socio-economic development and expressed enthusiasm for the CDC’s investment attraction initiatives.
